How about the 7-4, fast as a deer skillset?

At worst, you have Desagna Diop on a rookie contract. 7-4, with a 7-6 wingspan, athletic as hell. Great instincts on defense...

I would do it just to get rid of Brad Miller.

Man I realyy want to get rid of Miller too.

One Thabeet - If we can give minutes to Jordan Hill than we can give minutes to Thabeet. Thabeet definitely has more upside and talent than Hill. I really think he can have a future with the Rox, especially if we go young.

Grizzlies have finally found a way to use Thabeet. I doubt he is traded any time soon.

    LOL wut?

His stats have been fairly mediocre.

How are they using him correctly?

If we want a good cheerleader we could always bring back Brian Cook.

The fact that they are using him period says enough. He has mediocre stats because he doesn't play. Like i said, he won't be a huge difference maker this season. Since it takes big men longer to develop, he will probably peak in about 3-4 seasons. Sooner if he gets significant playing time. I think he will be a late bloomer, but still contributing along the way.

We should just go after Samuel Dalembert instead, IMO.

Word is the Kings are only asking an expiring contract back for him.

I agree. I'm wondering why Morey hasn't gone after him yet. The Thabeet trade is for a future Hakeem project.

With McGrady on the team, I would have been all for acquiring Sam D. He would've been an excellent breather for Yao and capable of filling in during injury spurts. As we are currently constructed, however, he would just be a bandaid. At best, he would come in a maybe increase our win total by 5 or 6 games...good enough to get the 8th or 9th spot and good enough to prolong the inevitable swoon into lotto land and deter our search for a superstar. We have to look more longterm, 2-4 years down the line, for team maturation. By that time Dalembert will be too old to do anything other than steal checks from the bench.

    Dalembert is an expiring contract.

We aren't gonna get a top 10 pick anyways unless we lose every single game of the season and trade away Scola and Martin for 10 cents/ dollar.

No way Morey and Les do that. They have gone on record as saying tanking is out of the question.

Morey is thinking medium term and this would be a low risk/ high reward type of move.

I'm not saying this would be the only move, but a prelude to a much larger deal to net us a 1st or 2nd tier player.

Morey wants to make the playoffs, even as a potential 7th or 8th seed.

Kings want an expiring only. We have nothing to lose, if you ask me.

Put him in the back of a zone defense with heavy pressure on the perimeter.

What do you think his ceiling is?

Starter? 6th man? All-Star? Rotational player?

Specific player you would consider his ceiling to be?

I'll say starter in about 2 more years. A good one.

Just like a few years ago when I said if you take a project, take a big project. Instead, we took Ray Lewis with a basketball who was already 25 yrs old vs the 19yr old 7ft project most fans want the rockets to sign in the offseason. See how that works?

Hill and Thabeet are similar in their development process, but as I mentioned earlier, at least i saw something special defensively for a blk of games at the end of last year. 5ppg,6rebs,2.76blks in 21 mins of action. That at least gives me hope that he can protect the rim and blk almost 3 shots in 21 mins of consistent action. Hill hasnt been anywhere close to that plus we would get to dump miller and mle salary. Again, 1.5 yr test drive and looking forward to 2012.Hill is behind basically scola, hayes, and patterson. His value is going to continue to sink with each passing week.

The only thing that worries me is that Thabeet has kind of low BBIQ and is foul prone.

Problem with him is i watched some Memphis games and he basically just sets picks on offense but gets no points/rebounds/blocks/assists.
Clearly he has potential with that body, but it might never work out.
But hey, we in Houston so Hakeem could work a lot with him.

This thread needs to be closed. He's a combination of Chuck Nevitt, Jerome James, and Shawn Bradley. We don't want him. Nobody wants him.
