    Fixed.

I don't think anyone wants to come to UH no matter who the coach is. I went and saw one of their home games against Cincinatti I think a few years ago, who was in the top 10 at the time (McGrady was in the audience incidentally). There was hardly anyone there and it was super quiet in there, even though the game went down to the wire. Awful atmosphere - imagine a potential recruit being at that game, or any home game for that matter.

    Axe to grind much?

BCG left UTEP. He left A&M too. A couple of things to note:

    1. BCG left both UTEP and A&M better off than when he got there (especially A&M).

    2. Due to his problems at Kentucky, it is likely that BCG will be at his next stop for quite a while. Big name programs are not likely to come calling a a few years. He will have to resurrect his reputation.

I went to the Memphis game last year and although it was not sold out like the previous year (with Rose and Dorsey) it was a great game, albeit a loss. Yes, I too thought that after we beat Kentucky a few years back that we would be in the NCAA.

However, this year has been a major dissapointment. The Coogs have the nation's leading scorer and steals leader in Aubrey Coleman, although they have a somewhat young and undersized frontcourt that should not excuse the poor conference play.

I can see two C-USA teams making the tourney this year considering the lack of ranked teams in the ACC and some big names within C-USA such as Jerome Jordan, Aubrey Coleman, Arnett Moltrie and Hassan Whiteside. Withougt the automatic qualifying bid, the Coogs are looking at another CIS, NIT, CBNO (close-but-no-cigar) tourney appearance.

If Penders gets into the NCAA, he may have another year. If Penders gets into the NCAA and wins games, he has another year. If Penders fails to get into the NCAA, he is gone.

No, I just don't want him fulfilling UH's hoops potential like I know he would be capable of...

When politics placed tech and baylor, moreso baylor in the big 12, it killed u of h sports. Now basketball should still be able to recruit and get players, but the facilities being outdated and playing in c-usa doesn't help.

CUSA affiliation isn't a liability in basketball nearly as much as it is football. (Thanks BCS!)

However, the facilities are the biggest problem.

Hofheinz is literally a bunker and replacing it would be a massive undertaking.

Penders definitely needs to go. You cannot build a successful program with a stead stream of JUCO transfers. Its sad how many kids are walking out of our backyard without a real glance at UH. Penders has a sizeable buyout, and that might be an obstacle.

As for as support for the team, winning cures everything. As Rockets fans, we all know that. Support was at a fever pitch during the 22 game winning streak and at the 2nd round last year vs the Lakers. If you get a team that makes some noise, the money and fans will pour in. I know a lot of people that are trying to find something to get excited about in UH basketball. I have gone to almost every game this year, and its gotten to the point where its just boring and uninspired. I can understand why people don't want to spend their money on a program that doesn't entertain.

Coach Penders will be raising a conference championship banner at Hofheinz.

This was a team win. The seniors would not let the team die. The bench came up big.

I hope it doesn't become the Memphis Invitational again. The better team usually wins on a neutral court.

    No point.
