That's something I don't understand. Someone mentioned earlier about Lin fans meltdown, but I read through all the posts all I see was so called veterans running around claiming victory against their imaginary enemy --- XOFs.

Or recovering from all the back-to-backs in Jan. :( Seriously, I'm worried for the Harden, Lin, Parsons, and Asik at the current rate they're eating up minutes.

I'd even be fine if the entire team just chilled around ASB, repping Houston and trying to lure free agents via chitchat/parties/what-have-you or even doing community service stuff, and maybe, say, :cough:practicing their freethrows or how to set a damn pick:coughcough:.

It really is fantastic that we keep perpetuating this LOF vs LOH rivalry. By my estimation, about half of the discussion on this board falls into this trap. Even if threads that did not start out as a Lin thread, it becomes a Lin thread.

Anyway, shall we continue this then? We can continue to cheer the fact that a Houston Rocket player just missed the All-Star game, when the game IS PLAYED IN HOUSTON, by a mere 45,000 votes. Really, a truly joyous day for all Rockets fan indeed. I can't think of many better things to cheer for then for our players failing. Of course, we're all Houston Rocket fans here. Fans naturally cheer when their players don't succeed.

Or perhaps we can just start rooting for the entire team to succeed, Lin included?

Sarcasm aside... I mean it's not even witty banter. Some users get downright mean at times.

Well, ya'll have a nice day now.

I agree with you wholeheartedly & it isn't just fair weather fans it is PR people & agencies as well. Players themselves have said as much. I am sure Dwight Howard's 10 children & the 10 baby mama's voted religiously for him to participate lol. But you know what I totally understand the other perspective I may not agree with it but I understand it & get where they are coming from. There seems to be a misconception on this board that anybody that thinks the All Star Games are solely a popularity contest is a LOF.

@loverofsports: the all-star game is just an amusing diversion. just treat it like that. no need to be indignant about who gets selected

@talkhoops: There is no "deserves to start the All-Star game" validity if a guy didn't get the votes. That's the system.

@MegiMK: This entire AllStar thing is a waste of time. Just another money maker for the league with little basketball value.

Obviously these are tweets from people who are all representatives of the Chinese nation & they all obviously voted for Lin to start over MVP CP3

So if Lin was averaging 22 and 10, Chris Paul hadn't played a game this year and still won the vote you guys are trying to tell me you wouldn't be upset?

Pay attention. Principle is principle. Does not matter who the player is. Earned is earned.

Some of the veteran posters need to take a deep breath and relax. Sure LOFs can be annoying just as much as LOHs, but dont judge them, especially new fans, because you've been here longer, it's childish to ask them to leave instead of converting them to team fans.

How did you become a rockets fan?

Most people don't become a team fan automatically, it all starts by following certain players. As time goes on you get attached to the team, then become a team fan. It's not rocket science, it's human nature. How many of you guys became a rockets fan because of Hakeem? How many of you started to follow Rockets because of Yao and Tmac? So cut those so called LOFs some slack and show some generosity, at least they don't hate the team and they are probably paying to watch the Rockets.

Or you can complain about those empty seats and wonder why nobody loves the Rockets as much as you do.

I just think they don't like the new neighbors. They liked the neighborhood the way it was before Lin came to Houston. I think some people are even allowing their dislike of their new neighbors to transfer onto Lin because Lin is the reason why the new neighbors are here.

Fans are more forgiving for sure for proven stars that get voted in but they still will get some criticism. Most of the time the star is at least the top five best player in the league so it's not as much of a travesty.

LOFs are literally the worst group of fans I've ever encountered. I thought the Battier only fans were bad, but they were just a small vocal minority. The LOFs have flooded this website in droves and ruined the quality of ClutchFans.

One of the leaders of the LOFs, torocan, went so far as to even say that most coaches advise players not to elevate to contest jumpers so that he could avoid criticizing Lin. Delusional doesn't even begin to describe these people.

If die hard fans care that much about merit/performance based selection, shouldn't they pay more attention to who gets into the 'All-NBA Team' which is strictly based on merit voted by most fair-minded knowledgeable experts? Why are they b****ing so much about the result of a popularity contest ?
