LOFs embarrass themselves so often it makes me sad. And that they don't even see that they're embarrassing themselves makes it even sadder. At least have the dignity to feel shame.

I now support bringing back DD to battle the LOFs.

I have absolutely nothing against Jeremy Lin, and despite his struggles this season, I believe that he can become a formidable complement to James Harden.

But I have to admit... watching this collective meltdown from his fans (and the subsequent b****-slapping from #1 and tinman) has really made my night.

Well, I agree 100%. The guy has enough on his plate at the moment. He doesn't need the added burden of the all-star game.

I do think All Star is and has been a popularity contest. Does Lin deserve it? Not as a player but as an icon.

Lin doesn't deserve to be an all star over chris paul, what is this some joke? The guy has no left hand dribble, leaves his feet often, and plays scared. Hes our point guard and doesn't even lead our team. Paul does it AALLL... nuff said

I wonder if people are aware that it isn't just fans who are involved. There is a lot of politics as well in the All Star Games. Players agencies & there "people" heavily influence the process as well. After all Deron Williams has his own beat writers who give him positive press. There is politics involved in every single aspect of the NBA from the draft process to media coverage to the all star games.

Please everyone stop fighting, LOF this, Lin that. Make it stop.

Of course, that's why it's up to the voters. Otherwise they'd just go by the stats and case closed. Ain't Lin's fault he's so damn charismatic :p

Great, just what we need. Another jackass who signs up just to hate on Jeremy.

What do you expect them to say? Why would they want their fan base to vote for other players?

Lot of old-timers here were so butthurt that they feel joy when they perceive Lin fans are hurt by Lin not being an all-star.

Nothing to do with Lin at all. It's like parents fighting using the kid as a weapon to be used to hurt each other's feelings. This messageboard must mean a lot to a lot of you.

    Enjoy, Clutchfans.

Fans are looking at it from a different perspective, especially die hard fans. They normally vote players in based on their performance over the course of the season, but the problem is how many die hard fans are there? Last time I checked basketball is still not the most popular sports in the states.

Fair weather fans, casual fans, generic sports fans who watch highlights and read espn magazines will vote based on reputation and popularity, that's where majority of the votes come from. Diehard fans can argue whether one deserves it or not, but it doesn't change the fact that most voters don't even get the chance to read your arguments --- they don't care, they vote for their favourite players not the best player at that position.

    Simple as that.

All thats being said is the ATTENTION of the event will DETRACT attention from negative events of what other people are doing.

Personally I don't think Lin getting voted in would be THAT huge a thing.

But still, we're talking about what people CHOOSE to pay attention to, instead of what they SHOULD be paying attention to. ( "Honey Boo Boo" gets higher ratings than the Presidential debates. Talk about 2 events that arent near the same relevannce)

Clutch didnt mention the "distraction" element, and I'm not gonna put words in his mouth, cuz like I said I don't think it'd be TOO bad if Lin gets voted in. (Wouldnt be the first time there's been home cooking in All Star votes). I don't think its TOO much a stretch to think one weekend of Lin getting WORLD WIDE coverage in a game he doesnt belong in would get people distracted away in the SHORT term.
