Where's the link to that exact quote?

Given torocan's rationality I find it hard to believe that's what he said.

I am sorry I still disagree & think that it is a stretch. I just don't see the attention of this detracting from the attention of all the other stuff that is happening particularly of the scale of what lance & teo did.

And the honey boo boo comparison is so different. People like Honey Boo Boo just like they like the Jersey Shore or John & kate plus eight. Those things are novelties Lin isn't a novelty anymore that all happened last year.

And what you are talking about is a totally different thing. The All Star Games happens in like March I think by that time the attention towards Teo & Lance would have died down significantly. So sure in that case Lin making the all star games would likely be the only sports thing that is being covered unless some other famous sports figure comes out that they lied about there girl friend or using PED's.

But how I interpreted Clutch statement was that if it had been announced today that Lin had beat CP3 & was starting in the games then the sports world would have blown up so much over this & everybody would have been equally consumed by this announcement & there would be much negative attention that people would talk less about Lance & Teo & everybody would talk more about Lin and the all star games.

Like think about all the exciting stuff that is happening solely in the world of the NBA. Is Lin & the All Star Games more exciting & controversial than the Lakers absurd season this year? Or even mor controversial than the Kings potentially moving? Or Austin Rivers historically bad rookie campaign? Or Damian Llilard being the second coming? Or Derrick Rose coming back? All of these narratives are equally as compelling I feel like the All Star Games would end up just being one of the many stories but wouldn't be the most talked about one. it would just end up being lost in translation & people would eventually just start to tune it out.

Like they are so many other more titillating controversies in so many different sports I don't see why you feel people would choose this over all the others in the same vain that people chose Honey Boo Boo over politics. The comparison falls flat.

You know what maybe if it blew up to becoming a even bigger thing & CP3, Westbrook, Nash, Parker, Curry etc publicly bashed Lin & every other NBA PG made it there life goal to make his life miserable out there on the court & CNN or whatever & Ahmad Rashard decided to do a feature about it then sure maybe there is a point if something along those lines happened. Or if Lin publically went out & said "Yeah I Deserve to Be An All Star Suck On My D*ck" then that would be a big deal. But what are the chances of that happening? Like I said I don't see it.

Popularity contest to make money for NBA. Nothing more nothing less and if you think it is about showcasing or rewarding the best players in the league I have some real nice bridges you might be interested in buying ... real cheap, barely used. Only little old ladies drive across them on Sunday heading to church.

    sigh.

The best thing about this is it gives James a much better chance to be voted inby the coaches. I'm sure Lin is happy to avoid the awkwardness of the media scrutinizing every detail of his struggles this season as well. I believe he can get there one day on merit.

This is fandom. Fans think they are better than other fans. Fandom is all emotion & rarely reason. The sense of superiority is amusing to me. I am probably one of the younger posters & some of the stuff I read on this board, from people who are likely much older than me (some who are old enough to be my parents I am sure) is entertaining.

Never got a response back when I asked for evidence to support that ridiculous claim. The reason is obvious and that's because it's complete bs.

Delusional and hypersensitive doesn't even begin to describe LOFs

It's just a popularity contest. Jeremy is popular for a number of reasons, but it's not as though everyone else on the list is deserving. Alas, we continue to shiet on Lin

I think I misunderstood your post where you stated 'so he could avoid criticizing lin.'

While I do think torocan's statement might be a bit stretchy, but it's also a common knowledge that you don't foul a jump shooter by not leaving your feet.

Torocan's might be wrong about this, but it's far from being delusional. In fact, Toro can has contributed greatly to the forum so far.

Hmm...Torocan wrote, "nearly all coaches advise you stay on the ground when defending a jump shot." The way you wrote it mis-led folks (at least, me) into thinking you meant coaches told players that so the coaches wouldn't have to criticize Lin. (Mis-understanding on my part, I suppose)

BUT, what Torocan said has indeed been mentioned many times by the color commentators (formers players/coaches). Re-watch last time's game where 2Pat fouled Dirk on a baseline jumper, I'm sure a similar comment was made by Hubie/Breen. It seemed like a reasonable argument to me...

He was using that "arguemnt" as a way to defend Lin's poor defense

There is absolutely no evidence out there that indicates "nearly all coaches advise you stay on the ground when defending a jump shot." That's just pure bs.

Yes that's my exactly my point.. There are a number of people who aren't deserving at all Lin included. But this isn't some big crime commutes by Jeremy. Everyone needs to chill out the format lends to it being a popularity contest.
