With Harrington defending the quick 4's in the West and Howard taking on the slower 4's we would be in a perfect situation.

Lets go Bird hunting. HeHe.......If he wont trade him to us.

Harrington would be a very nice addition to this team. If there is some way to just send 6.2TE along with a pick for Harrington, we should do it, sounds too easy though.

    FA-Lue
    TMac-JJ
    Harrington-Boki
    Howard-MoT
    Yao-FA

    or

As mentioned in another thread, I wonder how bad Chicago wants to dump some of their bad contracts. How about:

    6.9TE/MoT/Pike for JYD/ERob/Gordon

Sounds like they have been presented with a deal they would except come July 14th.

Please God, let this be true.

Deuce, I'd throw in a 1st rounder and TE for Harrington if we could. We better do something creative with it. It's not like we're done making moves. This team got holes like Swiss cheese.

There's another scenario that might make more sense -- Erick Dampier. The Pacers need another big man after losing Brad Miller last summer. Jeff Foster is a good role player, but he doesn't need to be playing starter's minutes. They've always been on the list of Dampier's possible suitors, and the Warriors probably wouldn't mind getting a couple of draft picks for him since he seems likely to leave anyway.

The Pacers already have a TE of roughly 2.2 million from the Miller trade last summer, and if they combined that with a potential 6.25 million TE (ours?) from trading Harrington that would be enough to afford Dampier. That might be the plan for Indiana, and it would make more sense than them just dumping him for cap relief.

But whatever the case, we need to be all over this. You don't get opportunities to get a 24-year-old multi-position talents like Harrington all the time. I wasn't sure going into the offseason if Les was committed to using the TE because we're likely to use our full MLE as well, but CD's interview yesterday has be more optimistic. It really sounds like they're trying to use all the resources they have this year.

Harrington has two more years ledft on his contract, and I don't think the Rox would be able to re-sign him.

    It would be a rental.

Just saw it on ESPN Bottomline:

Hawks resign Jackson, then trade him to the Pacers for Al Harrington. :(

    Wait just a minute...

If you look on the Indiana board, they are now saying that the S&T report by Bucher is false, and Chad Ford claims the Pacers are currently working on other deals for Harrington.

    W00t.

I too just saw on the ESPNews Bottom line that Bucher is reporting that the Hawks are doing a S&T of Jackson to the Pacers for Harrington.

    DAMN! DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!

    Uh, Mr Dawson.

Just because TM landed in your lap, does not mean you can take a three month vacation.

While no one expects you to just throw money at players (see MT, Cato, Moochie) there are exceptions.

We Rox fans are a bit puzzled that premium players, such as Arroyo and Harrington, are going to other teams, when it seems highly likely we could have gotten both of them.

    Yao Ming
    Juwan Howard
    T. Mac
    Arroyo
    Harrington

Best starting 5 in the league?

Well, I hope that is true! ESPN.com says that the Pacers are looking to trade Harrington somehwere, not necessarily to the Hawks. Alternatively Bucher is reporting the S&T deal.

I guess time will tell which is accurate.

I don't understand the reasoning behind that trade to the Hawks. I guess they would be getting a pick or two back from Atlanta? But, like some have already said, our TE plus a pick would REALLY help them go after another free agent like Dampier. If they do the deal with Houston, they would get S. Jackson + Dampier + pick for Harrington. If I'm Indiana, I jump all over that. A front line of O'Neal/Dampier would be sick in the East and could be what pushes them past the Pistons for best team in the conference.

Then, from the Rockets perspective, you trade one of our Forwards (MoT/Spoon) for either a backup center or point. Use the MLE to get the other position you didn't get with trade.

Agreed. The Pacers can get MORE if they DONT do the S&T Jackson for Harrington. Otherwise it is just player for player.

If they use their MLE on Jackson then they can send Harrington to another team for an asset and get perhaps a 1st round pick from someone. I would give up a 1st rounder if I was the Rockets. 1st rounder and the T.E. for Harrington? In a heartbeat!
