I will remain skeptical of course. He might have just gotten one right, but the rest could all be way off.

CBOAT got fed some bad information about Titanfall it seems (regarding the textures not being upgraded for the final game IIRC). Of course, NeoGAF being the crazy biased site they are, refused to accept what Respawn said, and continued posting about how horrible the textures will be in the game.

Oh wait...I mean they locked the thread and realized the leaked info wasn't true, even if it was negative towards MS. NeoGAF is acting weird.

This is something I'd like to see from Kinect/cameras for gameplay:

It would need some polish (this was just a quick concept as part of that competition I believe). But I like this over shoehorning gimmicks into games.

Hopefully it is 1080p though.

To clarify, I'm not talking about the conspiracy theory/entire site stuff. I don't know anything about that (though that has been interesting to read the last few days). Only that there seems to be a greater amount of Sony fans among the more active posters and it is reflected in the forum.

All the astroturfing/paid shills/leaks/mod conspiracy stuff is something else entirely, though the chaos has been very amusing.

 

Yeah, I guess I just don't see it that way. Well, I mean I could. I don't doubt that to be true per se. But I just don't keep track of that, and I'm not sure I could "verify" it one way or the other. There are people that have said otherwise (not so much these days, but definitely a few years ago).

There could be some bias I suppose, but in another sense. Tech fans might be Sony fans in general. Tech threads generate a lot of posts. Hence, a lot of posts come from Sony fans. Does that mean the board has mostly Sony fans? Or does it just mean people are more likely to read posts from Sony fans? Or something along those lines.

It is a kind of silly idea regardless since I don't believe it really affects discussions one way or the other (unless one wants to claim the mods are trying to push certain agendas). There are plenty of fans for each system (and fans that are neutral to it all). Pretty much all viewpoints get posted there. And if you post something stupid, untrue, irrelevant, etc., you'll be mocked (and maybe even banned), regardless of what kind of fan you are.

 

I agree with that. I don't really agree with the 'tech fans' idea. And I don't think that mods are trying to push a certain agenda. But definitely there is a tilt to the board that shows up in threads, like lots of Vita port begging in every thread that resembles mobile/handheld/ports of games (even though port begging is banned and the Vita is a very poor seller) or GOTY threads being overrun with TLOU posters if the game didn't win (it seemed the mods even had to crack down on that). Glancing through today and that MS Store trade in promotion thread (which is hardly unheard of) got angry real fast.

Like I said, no conspiracy theory. Just a general preference among the more active posters that is (and has been) consistent with the gaming side.

Have had my Xbox for about 2 weeks now, just reporting that almost everything is awesome about it except for 2 complaints

1.) the party chat thing is very annoying, so much easier to do on 360
2.) not being able to see your battery level is irritating too, spent 30 minutes trying to figure out why my controller kept disconnecting before i finally found out it was my batteries dying

Have Ghosts (which is ok) and Fifa (which is great) and am excited for Titanfall. None of these games seem next gen yet hopefully Titanfall lives up to the hype.

I'm sure Titanfall will be great and sell a lot of XBO systems.

But given that it will also be available on 360, it is kind of hard to accept it as a "true next-gen experience," or something along those lines. That's not necessarily surprising. I don't think we'll really see too many of those for a good while. *Maybe* Q4 2014, but maybe not even until 2015. These still just seem like "pretty" current-gen games, rather than "true" next-gen experiences.

Which isn't necessarily a problem of course (I'd LOVE to see "pretty" versions of current-gen games/game design), but if someone wants a true next-gen experience (i.e., something not possible on 360/PS3), it might be a while.

The tech fans was just an example of course (I'm not using it to explain all the posts). Read a thread about Japanese sales, and yeah, probably won't be too many Xbox fans there. Actually with sales in general, you tend to see more Nintendo and Sony fans post, but partly because those platforms tend to do well in the countries/regions that we frequently get data from. You see more Xbox supporters in NPD threads, but they rarely get a chance to "cheer" their platform on (even though those occasions have really good results for their favorite platform). My point was more along the lines that, if certain types of threads are "popular," and certain types of posters are more likely to post in those threads, then you will likely see more of those posts show up in the forum.

I'm not sure I agree completely with your points (I have more of a problem with the "data collection" than I do the conclusion I suppose). But I guess I don't really care one way or the other if it doesn't actually change the discussion or anything. This was originally brought up as a way to "discredit" NeoGAF (as if you could somehow discredit an entire forum). Whether there is a bias or not, I don't think the info posted there is "tainted" in any way (especially since NeoGAF is rarely the source of the info...except for the leaks, and those actually do seem pretty solid as far as rumors go). I guess if we were having some "Well, most people at NeoGAF think ___" discussion, this would be a valid concern. But at least for now, we're sticking to discussions about oranges and meatloaf in this thread.

 

What's p5? I still have my ps3 for dark souls and dark souls 2. Maybe this p5 will make me get another game

If you don't already play the SMT/Persona games though, not sure if you'll be a fan. They're great games (some of my favorites, and I'm super excited about P5), but somewhat niche.

 

I loved Persona 3 to death. Played the FES version on PS2, then bought the PSP version with the extra storyline and changed mechanics and played it again. Never made it through Persona 4, it's on my bucket list. I'm waiting to see if Sony will offer a good PS4-Vita bundle in the States so that I can play the Persona 4 Golden version.

 

I like how someone could have said, "I'll finish P4 before P5 comes out." And they could have said that 5-6 years ago. And they'd STILL have time to finish P4 before P5 comes out.
