I don't, but why would it be lame to take a few seconds every day to pray for the well being of the president, or anyone for that matter?

What I am trying to say is that it's just as radical to judge someone as doomed to hell as it is to try and send them there. Both encourage an usurption of god's supposed authority on the subject of salvation.

Jesus lamblasts the high priest for judging him prior to his crucifiction, and I'd think it wise for "christians" to accordingly withhold any ideology that proclaims one can "know" who does and does not deserve damnation.

No, I think it fine to judge people for their actions. I was referring to the far more subjective quality of beliefs.

Because some of them might want to send me there prematurely, obviously. Whether or not I think I deserve hell is really ancillary to the fact that I might be killed over it.

Jesus went after the high priests for many things very true. However, I think you are making an invalid point. Most Christians do not believe that they are rendering a judgment on your soul. They believe that is God's responsibility not their own. However, the Bible lays out God's standards for salvation and then Jesus commands men to deliver the good news of salvation to the world. A Christian then that tells you about the Gospel and warns you about hell is not judging you at all. They believe that God has already judged us all and found "none righteous, no not one."

Now, obviously that is a theoretical viewpoint. Many Christians, like many people of all faiths and of no faith at all are hypocrites, bigots, and incredibly judgmental. Those are traits that are seen daily in this forum by people from all walks of life, including the non-believers.

Very true. Respectfully, I did not mean to imply that every christian thinks this way, much like I don't think every muslim wants to fly planes into buildings.

Much of the consternation also stems from the ambiguity inherent in a phrase like "good news of salvation" - I don't think many "christian" churches get this right anymore. It speaks volumes as to mankind's ability to screw things up that the above statement can mean "gays should burn in hell" or "i don't support abortion" just as often as it means "love your neighbor as yourself".

Now, I don't believe in god much (long debate that is not on topic) but I do think that jesus' message is a good thing. Unfortunately, I think the message was instantaneously contorted into another bigoted collectivist human institution, which really is the opposite of what jesus desired, IMO.

There is no doubt that many choose to take what Jesus preaches and try to twist it to their own ends. Most see through it and can see it for what it is. Unfortunately some are unable to distinguish and erroneously see the altered message as the actual message. Some even latch on to it and use it to further bigoted agendas like you say.

Radicals and misguided zealots ruining it for the rest of the good people. Happens in all walks of life for almost any ideology.
