Whichever one allows ambitious, empowered whites to support racial tolerance without feeling threatened.
Christian Conservative = oxymoron Please explain how the philosophy of Jesus Christ yields a Randian view. Mr. Paul? (either one) Anyone?
I don't think either quote is correct, but I think MLK's is much closer to my beliefs. I just do not agree with how strongly he phrases it as the most persistent and urgent question. I think the phrasing of this poll and its implications are a little over the top. It is almost like some people want us to think only democrats care about others and republicans only think of themselves. If I am misinterpreting, then I apologize. Many conservatives donate time and money to others who are less fortunate. Just because a conservative does not want the government providing handouts to the poor does not mean that conservative does not want to help the poor: they may feel the best way to help is through charities. It is possible to want to minimize government's involvement in our daily life, but not agree with everything that Ayn Rand says.
