New article from The Arizona Republic. This is about a different guy with a brain hemorrhage, commenting on his experience, returning to politics, and comparing his recovery to hers. Hers is "much faster," he says, and she's much further along at six weeks than he was. She's sleeping through the night, talking, and eating normally. (I didn't know that, so there's a minor update here and a very positive one at that.)
Great post! My sister has been good friends with Barbara Johnson (Tim Johnson's wife) for many years. What happened with him is exceptional. Despite the reported progress for Giffords, I think the discussion of her running for the Senate next year should be dialed back for at least several more months. People shouldn't really get their hopes up and it could put enormous pressure on Giffords and her family. It's truly moving to hear how well she is doing so far, but there is a long way to go. I think folks may end up being disappointed. Just my 2 cents. I am not a doctor.
She is resigning. http://blog.chron.com/newswatch/2012/01/gabrielle-giffords-announces-she’s-stepping-down/
It's for the best of everyone involved- as coldhearted as it sounds, Giffords is unable to fully fulfill her duty as a congresswoman in her current state- and her constituents are entitled to a representative.
