considering you wouldn't know a fact unless it squirted tittie milk in your face, i'll take this as a compliment. and justtxyank, i guess we will even though i don't see how anyone could think that.
I don't know but what I heard is even if she does survive she will have at a minimum speech/memory impairment. Of all the victims, I'm really sad about the little girl. That's brutal. Two words...death penalty.
Death penalty has been a pretty hot topic in Arizona recently. I wish he would get electroshock therapy at shutter island.
Little more background on Loughner via the Washington Post. Link: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/house/jared-lee-loughner-was-a-regis.html Also among the evidence that wasn't reported yesterday that was found by investigators was a threatening letter penned by Loughner to Giffords. Suspected? Are they hoping to find some DNA evidence to exonerate him? Fry this b*stard and get it over with.
Gifford's aide was just engaged and he apparently threw himself in front of others. The older gentleman threw himself on top of his wife and saved her life. But it's this girl that just makes this so hard to come to grips with. I'm incredibly sad for her family. May they all rest in peace and may Congresswoman Giffords make a full recovery. I really don't think there's a punishment befitting of this crime. Yes, he should die in the most horrible way possible...but that's not enough. I can't answer what is.
He will have a not so special place in the afterlife. . .The killing of the girl hit hardest with me. sorry.
More on the brain of Loughner from his closest (and perhaps only) friend: http://motherjones.com/politics/2011/01/jared-lee-loughner-friend-voicemail-phone-message?mwh=1 Chilling. Dude was crazy. I doubt he even listened to any of the rhetoric that people appear to be blaming. It seems he just thought he was dreaming or something. I can't really blame this on rhetoric any more after reading that. I still think incendiary rhetoric is stupid and harmful, but I don't think it causes this particular massacre.
I don't think any politician should use language that invokes spilling blood of people. There should be a level of decency in politics. I mean, come on, these are suppose to be our leaders. If they can't be civil, what on earth does it say about us? Clearly this shooting had nothing to do with Palin and the Tea Party vitrol, but that doesn't mean that it should continue. You never know when some other lunatic will act based on some of the language. That doesn't mean we can't have passionate debate amongst political leaders, but I think we can all live without the targets on people and references to "2nd Amendment remedies". A far cry from "hand to hand combat". And to the troll who keeps posting images of violence against republicans - you realize those are from private citizens and not public servants right? There's a difference between a public servant using imagery of violence against their opponents and a private citizen doing the same. Both are disgusting, but one is irresponsible and a betrayal of leadership.
Sure, that to. I don't think that comment is nearly the same as calling on people to excercise their 2nd amendment rights to remedy political leadership if the Tea Party doesn't get what it wanted, but hey, I'll gladly trade away that for the other.
I think we need to toughen up a little and call a spade a spade. This dude was a nut and putting the blame on anyone else is just as crazy.
Absolutely, but there's still no need for calling on people to use their guns to remedy situations. Technically, that's calling for a revolt which ain't legal. And Angle did use that language. That doesn't have to do with this situation, and I have stated the same thing myself numerous times on this thread. I do think lack gun control laws contributed to this tragedy. I have always pointed out that a psychiatric exam be given to anyone acquiring a firearm and clearly that might have prevented this tragedy. So the NRA does have some blame in this.
Discussing the culpability of a VP candidate who put the name of a colleague in crosshairs on a website before she was shot at point blank range (along with a nine year old) is "just as crazy" as the person who is committing the act?
