    my dad used to have hat similar to that, he worked for the post office. the side flaps come down to cover the ears.

    I do NOT think these are the postal hats. There are not flaps to be deployed, and these tough guys don't need to warm their ears. They warm their ears with the inferno exhaust blasts of their glorious test ducks.

    By the way, check on the person in the next to top row on the left. Woman? Mullet? What is going on there? Is this the clue we've needed to unlock their true intentions?

    The hats are called Ushankas. If you want an authentic North Korean Army Ushanka, most of the people that I am familiar with that sell things from North Korea are Chinese, so that would be the place to start looking.

    Or you can get a nice Russian model cheap.

    And yes, the fur hats in the first picture do have flaps.
