During the Biden presidency, as a part of the Infrastructure Bill, Calif received Federal grant for high speed rail,
a key part of Califorhia's agenda delivering infrastructure upgrades and creating jobs throughout the state.
earlier this week, Trump 2.0 rescinded that Federal grant

This comes as the project enters the track laying phase, is actively building across 171 miles, has built more than 50 major railway structures – including bridges, overpasses, and viaducts – and completed over 60 miles of guideway.

Calif Gov Newsom has issued this statement
“Canceling these grants without cause isn’t just wrong — it’s illegal,” said
Calif High Speed Rail Authority's CEO Choudri.

“These are legally binding agreements, and the Authority has met every obligation, as confirmed by repeated federal reviews, as recently as February 2025. America’s only high-speed rail project underway is fast approaching the track-laying phase, with 171 miles under active construction and design, 15,500 jobs created, and more than 50 major structures completed. This is no time for Washington to walk away on America’s transportation future.”

one of the top campaign promises for Trump 1.0 was the Infrastructure bill.
during Trump 1.0, there was infrastructure week , on 8 separate occasions,
    to ramp up support
for the infrastucture bill. Trump 1.0 failed miserably, never able to come up with a plan.

once in office, Biden implemented his plan immediately, signing the infrastucture bill in 2017.

Maybe you are. Maybe you love Texas BBQ. Maybe you hate beautiful clean beaches, beautiful blue ocean water, crisp cool air, mountains, wineries.

Today Gov Newsom announced that Calif's High Speed Rail Authority is suing Trump 2.0
over its politically-motivated termination of $4 billion in federal grants to the project.

The lawsuit alleges that termination of the agreements is petty, political retribution, motivated by Tangerine Musolini’s
personal animus toward California and the high-speed rail project, not by facts on the ground.

If true then California doesn't need any federal help to rebuild from the wildfires.
