Real question - wouldn’t the Dems prefer Trump to DeSantis as the 2024 nominee? I mean sure, Dems want to wreck Trump for sure. But at the same time, Trump might be the only Republican candidate that could lose in 2024.
Sure. If you prefer to put party over country at the expense of another 4 years of Trump. No Thank you
No question, the Dems better be absolutely sure that they can beat trump if they are wrecking DeSantis to make Trump the front runner. but the reality is that unless things change, trump is the presumptive nominee for 2024, and Dems are doing all they can to wreck him. as for Desantis, there is no downside with trying to take him down, is there? He seems to be the obvious choice if Trump doesn’t run.
Remember when I said there was something fishy about DeSantis paying that company outrageous amounts of money to ship migrants? Remember when I said it must be some type favor to a loyalist to pay twice the normal cost of plane and bus tickets? Well, guess what? Florida migrant-moving company gave GOP cash, has ties to DeSantis' immigration 'czar' and Rep. Matt Gaetz Vertol Systems, which has lavished money on Republicans, was once represented by Gaetz and his former law partner, who now works for DeSantis. The DeSantis administration's refusal to provide public records about the contract contrasts with his pledge to operate government with "the utmost transparency and accountability" before taking office in 2019, when he also said he would "drain the swamp" in Tallahassee and stop the "dominance" of special interests. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/im...-gop-cash-ties-desantis-immigration-rcna48967 Drain the swamp my ass Mr. "Trump butt kisser for years" mini Trump.
So... I'm sitting at a restaurant in the St. Petersburg hood and having a discussion with the Brayboys (a black couple that constantly invests in the community and in the people of the community). The St. Pete police department had an orientation program where they would bring officers into the community to meet folks and see the neighborhood and they would end up at the Brayboy's restaurant for lunch. Due to DeSantis's "anti woke" crap, the PD was forced to quit doing that orientation program because it was too woke.
Sounds like BS. Can you be more specific? P.S.: Also, are you going to just stay or are you going to evacuate?
What is woke about community engagement and connecting with folks they serve? You'd think they'd want more urban minorities trusting the police or having ways to communicate when something happens,
Nothing, which is why I am pretty sure that DeSantis is getting blamed for something here that he never targeted.
I'm guessing that we agree on many things, but not this. If you think you, your wife, or your kids might turn gay and transgendered because of what ANYONE says.... Well, you and yours are weak.
I certainly don't think that, but I also don't think that anti-woke just means one is a racist and likes to discriminate. In fact, the opposite is true. Wokeism has discrimination at its core. It is based on segregating people into classes and races and cannot live without it. P.S.: I generally like your posts, even when we disagree. You seem to have a good sense of humor.
You're claiming that either I or Mr. Brayboy (a true hero and pillar of the community) of BSing?. Pretty cut and dried. What more do you need to know? SPPD would take new officers (regardless of their beat) and shiw them the black community. They were advised to stop based on DeSantis's legislation (I assume HB 7 that was enacted in April).
Here is what HB7 says and I assume this is the legislation that was referred to. The bill includes provisions to prevent discriminatory instruction in the workplace And a quote from the Governor "In Florida, we will not let the far-left woke agenda take over our schools and workplaces. There is no place for indoctrination or discrimination in Florida.”
No, neither calling you nor the person you spoke to a liar. You seem like a good guy. I just don't think that this is what the Governor was targeting. You know how it works with these things - some people use these things as an opportunity to stop things they wanted to stop anyway, and then blame it on this. Someone somewhere in the chain. You could still say that even if it were an unintended consequence, this is proof that it's a foolish law - fair enough.
Question for y'all...if an officer doesn't want to talk to a minority community in these Meet-n-Greets, maybe out of principle, then should they be forced to despite win-neutral outcomes? I support employee empowerment. Here it seems like an employee obligation, though I think everyone is better off if it's mandatory.
