DeSantis Suspends Tampa Prosecutor Who Vowed Not to Criminalize Abortion - The New York Times (nytimes.com)
Truth! But, it's more important for guys like DeSantis, Cruz, and the other gay haters to make it look like teachers and people trying to help these kids are the groomers. GOP way is simply... Don't talk to them. Don't council them. Don't accept them. Even if they are your own! Get them conversion therapy to get the gay out! God didn't make them that way!!!! It's ok to give them a choice to stay in the closet or put them out on the streets.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a July 28 memo telling Florida public schools to ignore USDA guidance clarifying they can’t deny lunch money to queer and trans youth. https://www.texasobserver.org/next-on-the-gops-list-starving-queer-kids/
What? But he's such a cool guy. It's not really discrimination to deny lunch money based on their own person choices and sexual attractions.
This is a fake issue. They are not going to starve anyone. They are simply not ceding to identity politics fanatism. Pretending that this is about starving a special group of people is deceiving framing. Just like calling a law that protects parents' rights "don't say gay".
Do tell. What was his purpose of signing the bill? Are you saying he identified that group just to draw attention to himself? Are you saying the bill isn't real? It seems you have a governor who is obsessed with refusing to accept gays as equals. These are children!!!!! Poor children!! Get that through your head.
You are gullible. The threat to the children is from ideologues who want to give them chemicals and mastectomies etc. when they can't even legally have a drink. Get this through your head - these children are not nearly old enough to have a beer (with or without parents' consent), but the leftist ideologue crazies want to let them take chemicals and have gender reassignment indoctrination and surgery. These bills are aimed at protecting these children from crazy leftist ideologues using them as pawns.
None of that matters. What matters is that DeSantis knows white people don't want to be told that racism is real, and he knows that white people don't want their kids to be taught to be tolerant of LGBTQ and not be able to pick on them they way they did when they were in school. So DeSantis is fighting for their rights to be racist and hateful. Because he knows that's what is important to them, and they will gladly take inferior healthcare, inferior roads, water, air, and worse public services if it means they can be happy sticking it to the libs. That's what DeSantis is about, and sadly, it works. The rich are happy, because they pay less in taxes, and his constituents are happy because they don't have to wear masks or get vaccinated during pandemics, and can be free to put other people's health at risk so they can shop while making a political statement. DeSantis is rewriting the book on pandering to the worst elements of the base.
Tell me, how is this bill saying it's ok to discriminate with free school meals protecting children? That's the topic. I don't need all the other gay hate rhetoric added in or your radical views against minors. I already know how you feel about these kids.
Truth! He's pandering to those White hate groups in his base who just can't let people live their life as they choose.
You triggered? The bill was about saying they didn't have to provide free meals to kids that weren't straight. You got off topic. Do you agree with picking and choosing who gets a free meal because of sexual orientation?
He would rather choose enabling discrimination vs federal free meals. Plain and simple. Thou shall not talk to a child seeking questions about their feelings in our schools! Tell them to talk to their parents, even if those parents are anti-gay hating bigots who might disown them.
Too bad his isn't hell bent on protecting kids from people legally buying assault rifles to shoot and kill multiple victims quickly. It's all about that base. Nobody's killing their kids with sexual choice but kids in homes with guns are the ones far more at risk of dying. That's where his focus should be. His focus should be on strict gun laws and vetting.
