You contradict (a lot it seems) yourself in order to protect your own political beliefs. You say you people should be shown respect yet you argue againts a rather simple practice around pronoun use calling it virtue-stealing and "catering to people's sensitivities). You allude to some physical challenge you may or may not have been born with. But rather discussing whether its wrong for people to call you "gimp" (which would be an obvious offensive insult), you try to confuse the decision to use pronouns that show respect to silly "emperor" and "your highness" which you hope to compare with respectful pronoun use simply because you wish to protect your political belief.
It is for 4-8 year old's in school and just because liberals choose to raise their kids that way doesn't mean everyone wants to. I have an acquaintance who is a liberal with a 9 year old girl and 5 year old boy. He just went through a divorce and his daughter now decided she wants to be a boy, and the boy now wants to be non-binary. I'm not interested in my kid deciding to change their gender as a way to rebel or because they were taught it's the cool hip thing to do. Teach children to be accepting of other beliefs, disabilities, or race in school, but don't try to normalize the way of life for under what 5% of the population prefers. Why should children that age have a "Choose Your Pronoun" day and decide they want to be non-binary ze/hir's?
It hurts absolutely nobody for them to choose a pronoun. It obviously helps some children. Are you worried that your children wouldn't look down on others that choose their pronouns? I'm not sure why it's a problem. But DeSantis' bill is big government overreach.
Liberals don't choose to raise their kids "that way". More often, kids are that way. I don't know of any parent crazy enough to push their kids to be part of a group that faces discrimination, bullies, or all that non-helpful stuff for being different from the mass. It's typically because the kids are that way. At that point, maybe - and I have no idea if this is true - liberals are more supportive of their way ("choice" if you want) while conservatives are less supportive. There is a "choose your pronoun" day at school? Now, that's silly. I have never seen it. I have seen an international pronouns day which teaches understanding and being respectful for people that are different. I think those are good lesson and I don't think it has any negative impact on my kids while it has positive impact on kids and adults that are often misunderstood and discriminated against. I guess it's possible but I find it very hard to believe that kids do this to rebel or think it's cool. I'm curious since I sense you fear the impact on your kids, do you think kids can be taught to become 'gay' or 'non-binary'? For those that are gay or non-binary, do you think they were born that way or learned to become that way?
NOBODY chooses to turn their kids any way. Do you think only liberals have kids who aren't heterosexual? Or ... Are you saying only liberals choose to accept their kids' feelings and all conservatives force their kids to keep their mouth shut about it? Or .. Are you saying Liberals turn their kids into something else because being anything but heterosexual isn't something they were born with? Don't "normalize" people who are what you call 5% of a population? Are you saying they aren't normal? Are you saying we should teach kids that those kids aren't normal? Or.... Are you afraid if a kid uses a pronoun they will turn "other" than heterosexual. If your boy wears a pink shirt do you think it turn him gay? Do you think parents can turn their kids' sexual preference into something it isn't? Oh, what about dress up? You know, where kids can play make believe and throw on different costumes in P-K or Kinder. Will the garments they wear make them turn into that? Do you feel teachers need to tell girls they can't wear a costume that a boy would normally choose, or vice versa? Facts: Conservatives and Liberals can both have kids that aren't heterosexual. Kids are born how they are. The party of their parents doesn't up those odds either way. There are straight kids with gay parents and gay parents with straight kids. Many kids are bullied from a young age because they are different. Some kids stay in the closet for fear of being able to talk to and be accepted and loved by their parents. Some parents reject their kids for being gay or force them to act like they aren't. Some parents love their kids no matter what and accept them for who they are. Some kids commit suicide because they are made to feel like they are not normal, and they would rather die than endure hate, bullying, or rejection. Hate or rejection harms people. Love and acceptance is always best.
You do realize that the "Bee" is satire that's bent way over to the "far right," don't you? Talk about a rightwing audience afraid of the dark! NO ONE is censoring the Babylon Bee. That would be like censoring Mad Magazine back in the day. This lunacy trolling for readers popped up when I clicked on the link, bolded by the "Bee" - Stay Ahead of the Censors Big Tech is suppressing conservative voices. Sign up for our free newsletter so you'll keep getting our content, no matter what.
Facebook has their own standards. As a private company, they are allowed to. Does that surprise you? I find the "satire" highly offensive, but you won't find me on Facebook and I don't read the "Bee," except when members post from it here.
I'll repeat what I said to Os. Like Facebook, Twitter is a private company with standards. The "Bee" can print whatever they like. I think much of what the Babylon Bee publishes is excrement, and some of their material that doesn't fit that description can be amusing. If I want to read what they put out, all I have to do is go to their website. Nothing is preventing me from doing that. Are you being prevented from doing that? Again, Facebook (which I don't read) and Twitter (which I use) have standards they expect to be met. Based on some of what I've seen that those companies found beyond the pale, I understand why they acted the way they did.
