That wasn't an answer. Generally laws are created if a problem exists that isn't covered by current law.
What part of the wording below refers to sexual activity? btw, this document isn't the final law... "prohibiting classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in certain grade levels or in a specified manner..." "3. Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in..."
And Section 7 basically states parents determine what is instructions are in violation. So there is going to be Kyles and Karens complaining their 8 year olds teacher has a picture on their desk of their same sex partner and little Johnny asked a question and the teacher gave an explanation.
That's your perspective. The majority of the population sees it differently and welcomes this law. You guys can whine as much as you want, but that's how democracy works. Strengthening parental rights against woke indoctrination is a good thing.
Would you mind telling me some of these many cases of woke indoctrination that are supposedly happening?
And do you always agree with what the majority thinks? And again when have parents not been able to teach their children values?
Yes. That is your opinion. Nobody is denying that or claiming you aren't allowed to have an opinion. The loudest whining and complaining I hear is that of crusty old grand pappy - types speaking about woke indoctrination.
Does the law say that a teacher can’t acknowledge, when prompted, that sometimes two men or two women will love each other in the same way that your mom and dad might love each other. That should be perfectly fine for a teacher to say, and in fact avoiding mentioning of it when prompted has the effect of making that seem abnormal/wrong to young kids. This idea that silence on something or not acknowledging facts of life is a neutral position is in error. The law has the effect of encouraging teachers to tacitly stigmatizing gay people by treating them as unmentionable. That is wrong, for the same reason it would be wrong to have a law that similarly stigmatizes mixed-race couples.
What's also shady is that this law (like SB8 in Texas), does not allow the defendant to recoup any attorney fees or costs of defending themselves, even if the defendant prevails. However, if the person that sues prevails, they can get their attorney fee from the defendant. This one-way fee shifting absolutely encourages frivolous lawsuits.
trump was elected because almost all republicans (and those that self-identify as "libertarians") voted for him. First as their preferred choice in primaries, and then again in the general election.
Of course you don't find nothing wrong with the law. You have no problem with a state discriminating against gay people.
