I actually love this guy, may not agree with him all the time, but do like him…. Though I get it the left doesn’t like him, they evidentially don’t like anyone who stands up for their state or their country… instead they go to their old playbook, just call him names. I just wanted to say that.
I suspect you also like trump. Largely because desantis is trump lite. And I suspect you think trump also stood up for country. After all, he wore that red baseball cap that said so... maga. And yea, the left don't like either trump or trump lite.
I don't think I had a problem w/ Desantis prior to covid, but he's passed some laws to poke an eye at Libs. It's obvious he's gunning for attention as a Presidential Candidate and those plays aren't only to provoke libs into Calling Him Names but also as a form of street cred in upcoming debates and primaries. Just in this thread there was an article about him wanting to ship immigrants to Martha Vineyard. Sounds like a half cocked "plan"/joke (can't sue jokes! hahahaaaa...) Tucker would promote over and over again. Which I guess would make his fans smile, say "Got'em!!!", and put up a high five to whomever will give it, but doesn't really resonate (to me at least) for a president who would ideally step outside of state issues and try to solve problems on a national level. All this talk is only confirming my hunch a half a year ago.

The left pointed out how he is expanding and growing government power (overreach) by instituting mandates on businesses rather than allowing them to set their own policy, tried to bully teens from making their own decisions and curtails individual freedom. The left was correct.

Nobody who echoed Trump's lies for 4 years like DeSantis, Cruz, Paxton, and all the other Trump Brown shirts stood for their country. I just wanted to say that. I also raise the BS flag on saying Democrats don't want anyone who stands for their country. The difference is that when most Democrats say country they mean everyone. They don't want discrimination by sex, race, skin color, or sexual orientation, and just want every American citizen treated equally, and with respect. I used to vote Republican, but for me Trump and his compulsive lying changed my tune. I don't agree with the way he mocks and bullies people, and I certainly lost respect for the party who joined in and echoed the lies. It's hard to have any faith or trust when downright lying propaganda is spouted out regularly. Too much of what happened those 4 years and ever since has made me fear for the first time in my life that our Democracy was and still is at stake. How can you not question that after all the stop the steal and trying to overturn the vote mania?
This platitude goes back to the Cold War... I am not sure it ever really held any validity, but it certainly doesn't now. Are you going to tell me that people like Trump, Graham and Cruz stand up for the USA? They don't, they only care about themselves. When your party is led by people that are such opportunists, you cannot claim they stand up for their country. Cruz doesn't give a **** about Texas, he goes on vacation during a state emergency.
DeSantis practically bed with Trump. The brown nose stains are still there. He tied HIMSELF to Trump for 4 years. If you speak of DeSantis the echoes of Trump can't be separated now. It's too late to pretend he doesn't still have that brown shirt with Trump merit patches sewn on it tucked away in his memento box.
So, does that mean that Republicans who didn't like Obama didn't like people who stood up for their country?
