I'm against mask mandates, but that was some BS from DeSantis. The point of not having mask mandates is to give each person the freedom to do what they want to do. Telling people not to wear masks is hypocritical.
It tells me you have no clue on how highly populated areas in a condensed spaces would spread a virus quicker. More than 94 percent of Californians live in urban areas which cover just 5.1 percent of the state. If Trump's bootlicker DeSantis had been governor of California many many more would have died there.

It tells me you're mistakenly thinking masking = compliance. In high-density areas like SF, where I live, high rates of masking have definitely helped blunt infection and hospitalization #s, in every wave (give or take omicron, when bars and restaurants were back open.) Meanwhile LA, San Diego, and the central valley have always struggled by comparison with mask wearing, and they have higher COVID #s per capita too. You can say it's coincidental but most of the science shows good masks worn properly make a big difference for airborne disease. That's why people working in hospitals wear them -- not because they are brainwashed and dumb. I'm all for opposing mandates at this stage for all ages and definitely for kids. But joining your voice to irresponsible ones (like deSatans, who wouldn't know science if you held it two inches from his weasel eyes) about whether or not masks work makes no sense.
It's not me mistakenly thinking that, it's those who enacted the mask mandates. Why is there low compliance? Because people realize it's theater. Definitely? Can you show data to prove your opinion? Those are just your opinions, not "science". Only FFP2/FFP3 masks even have some effect. Even in hospitals, they normally just wear surgical masks, not FFP2/FFP3. They also wear scrubs. It's tradition. But yes, big difference between a doctor wearing a medical mask properly, and forcing that on toddlers 8 hours a day.
