I could be wrong, but DeSantis doesn’t strike me as the “fck what everybody else around me is saying, I’m doing my own thing” type like a Donald Trump with the way he pivots to woke on almost every question, it’s hard for me to believe that he doesn’t have advisors telling him it’s a good strategy…They’re giving him the blueprint for everything else, why would the war on woke be different? they just can’t do anything about his complete lack social skills and how awkward, cringey, non-empathetic, and fake he is when interacting with people this dude really needs to be told to show emotion when talking about his family during a debate, and I’ll never forget his wife trying to fool us into thinking he’s some great guy because he picked up the kids from school without complaining while she was dealing with cancer…that’s the bare minimum, that doesn’t deserve any praise

I’m not going to pretend to know the inside story of DeSantis’ campaign but from what I’ve seen of campaigns the candidate sets the direction. I don’t think this is his staff telling him to focus on “woke”. From the leaked memo other commentaries it sounds like his staff and others interested in his campaign want him to not focus so much on “woke”. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have some staff who appear to be edglords trying to pwn the Leftists but I think this is DeSantis’ obsession.
Crist was a bad candidate. He had an interesting message but he wasn’t the one to deliver it and largely came off as a has been who couldn’t make it as Republican who tried his hand at being a Democrat.
I think he had a gen z staffer who was responsible for those odd fashwave online campaign videos that had stuff like the Sonnenrad that just confused the **** out of boomers.
I thought it was his wife who was the primary input on his campaign. The Casey DeSantis Problem: ‘His Greatest Asset and His Greatest Liability’ Ron DeSantis’ wife is going to play a very prominent role in his presidential campaign. Some of his supporters wonder if that’s an entirely good thing.

Christie is the wildcard. Just slow and steady…. Same messaging throughout… no pivots…. I actually really like Christie. I’ve definitely been hearing a lot of his commentary these past few years and while he is definitely a conservative, he isn’t a populist.
DeSantis is desperately trying to hold onto that #2 position, praying and hoping for Trump to be found guilty of his criminal activities. This leak has shattered whatever is left of that weak strategy.
