LBJ was not a nice man and he frequently used "colorful" language. He still pushed and signed the Civil Rights Act. This is why it's a bizzarre argument to claim that he's a racist when many of his policies directly addressed racism.
Pretty sure LBJ would be considered racist in 2023, but that’s the issue with applying contemporary standards towards folks.
Instead the South did the opposite and glorified the confederacy and enacted Jim Crow… and there are still plenty of folks that lived during Jim Crow in 2023…. And 21st century conservatives are up to it again… this time with “religious freedom”. Conservatives are pushing for a religious Jim Crow. When it’s a pattern, I would say it is inherent.
