If this is accurate, this is very interesring/troubling. It would be a clear double standard based solely on race.

Remember they aren't allowed to teach anything in history that would make whites comfortable, but surely teaching about black people using violence against white people could make black people feel uncomfortable.

What a tool. Only "traditional crimes" like robbing banks? This is what trump does to people... how pathetically embarrassing it must be to be denantis to be so emasculated spinning out these defenses for the guy that ridicules him...

    The Humiliation of Ron DeSantis
The Florida governor isn’t Trump plus competence; he’s Trump minus jokes.

    By Helen Lewis

    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2023/07/ron-desantis-cnn-interview/674751/

Before his stump speeches in his reelection campaign last year, Ron DeSantis liked to play a video montage that showed him being gratuitously rude to reporters at press conferences. It was petty and graceless—and warmly received by the Florida governor’s base. At a DeSantis rally in Melbourne, Florida, last fall, I watched the video from an elevated press pen alongside a gaggle of local reporters. The disconnect between the unflagging politeness that DeSantis’s young volunteers showed the press corps and the ostentatious douchebaggery of the candidate was stark.

Last night, though, Dunking Ron was replaced, briefly, by Conciliatory Ron. His decision to grant CNN’s Jake Tapper a sit-down interview in South Carolina was a reflection of how far behind Donald Trump he is trailing in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. But more than that, the interview was a rejection of one of the Florida governor’s most cherished principles: Mainstream journalists are the enemy and should be treated with undisguised contempt. DeSantis’s problem is that his basic theory of the campaign is turning out to be wrong. He promised to run as Trump plus an attention span, and instead he is running as Trump minus jokes.

Opponents pointed out several issues in the curriculum: Elementary and middle school students are not required to learn about African American history past Reconstruction; the middle school curriculum includes a benchmark clarification that states “Instruction includes how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit;” and in high school, when learning about the Ocoee Massacre, the benchmark clarification states “Instruction includes acts of violence perpetrated against and by African Americans.”

“When you look at the history currently, it suggests that the (Ocoee) massacre was sparked by violence from African Americans. That's blaming the victim,” said Sen. Geraldine Thompson- D, Orlando, who is listed as an emerita board member on the task force’s website.

The Ocoee Massacre is considered the largest incidence of voting-day violence in United States history, according to the Orange County Regional History Center. In 1920, Mose Norman, a Black man, tried to vote but was turned away from the polls. Later that night, a white mob tried to find Norman and his friend’s house. His friend, July Perry, was lynched, and other Black community members were murdered and their houses burned. Most of the Black community subsequently fled Ocoee and never came back.

Other examples cited by opponents of the curriculum include omitting person-first language and calling enslaved people "slaves," and mentioning of the landmark Supreme Court decision Brown v. Board of Education but not including in the benchmark clarification that in 1957, the Florida Legislature passed a resolution in opposition of the decision that ended legal segregation in schools.

It also does not mention that Florida seceded from the union during the Civil War, Robinson said.

“This is what we're saying when we say that the standards are so porous because they're incomplete,” he said.

the racism is so in your face now…these evil demons know what they’re doing

You can't make this **** up. Mr. WOKE WOKE thinks it's hilarious to tell his supporters he'll serve them anything but a Bud Light, and rallies them all against it, then sues the company because his investors lost money. SMH

I imagine a conversation like this

Little Tommy: So, what did the helpers of the white plantation family learn sir?

Teacher: Well Tommy, they learned great skills such as picking cotton which they can take later in life and buy their own farm and earn a fine living. They also learned to bus tables and cook for the owners of the plantation; the women will take what they've learned and when they get married and have their own home they will know how to feed themselves and pick up after themselves. And a few select got excellent skills aboard a ship, they would row and row for days, often skipping meals and water breaks so they could stay ahead of schedule. There white crew members (aka:friends) were so happy to have them they would often horse play with their friends, it's an old game called "whip me when I go to slow"....................oh the fun we had with that game. Speaking of games, there was this one game where the plantation owner would single out a pretty young child from one of the families who work for him and would take them when no one looked and bring them back 9 months later and they had a new friend to play with, this taught the little girls how to care for a baby, kind of like hide and seek, but with a prize at the end. It was just unicorns and rainbows..........oh wait, did I say Rainbow, I meant unicorns and sunshine

Little Tommy: Good times my man, good times

I don't think DeSantis is fearful of white kids feeling ashamed or guilty about past injustices. I think he just doesn't want them to understand why and how important it was for those treated with blatant racism and abuse to stand up for equality, justice, and equal rights and opportunities in our country. What they don't know or understand helps his cause as a far right politician.

One is the Governor of the state more people want to move to than any other state.

The other guy is one of the richest guys in the world, who has done more to overcome dependence on fossil fuels than any other person in the world.

@SamFisher is an unemployed ambulance chaser who spreads negativity and hate on a basketball message board.

Your call on who is most beclowned right now.
