Of course he is because the goal is to ban it outright and to ban being openly gay outright. It doesn't happen over night, but it happens over time when people excuse and ignore the baby steps that get it there. The entire culture war is a religious thing, you even start to see it here where you have some posters waxing poetic about how women need to go back to being modest, comparing the current state of affairs to the story of Sodom and Gamorrah, and just in general being very anti-science. Unfortunately for them, being a secular country is baked into this country's very core. There is no easy and peaceful way to make this a theocracy and the while being a Christian certainly helps a candidate no one wants that crap stuffed down their throats.
For the people at top like DeSantis their motivation to push the culture wars isn't due to a sincere belief in them. They push the culture wars because they want to avoid having white working class people get angry about economic systems. As soon as the white working class joins with the rest of the working class and moves past these culture wars issue, the big business influence of our political system ends. Even establishment democrats fear the day the average white working class American getting rizzed up from class warfare rather than culture wars.
