It means that the average American is a lot more pro gun ownership and against changing the status quo than the average citizen in the rest of the world. I mean, it's in the constitution and all. While the Right is more vocal about it, I even see posters from the Left defend it. They have guns, too. It's just much more "normal" in this country. One of the few things I struggle with in this otherwise great country.
There you go again by twisting my whole point. This is what is so frustrating trying to discuss something with you. I'm talking about assault weapons designed to kill in mass. I'm not taking about Bubba Gump and his shotgun shooting ducks or quail. I think you are wrong about the majority of Americans being all in for assault weapons sales. The GOP politicians know that, but that NRA money and those thugs and killers, and GI Joe play soldiers are votes they must feel they need. Nothing else makes sense, when it comes to putting assault rifles in the hands of civilians.
It's normal as part of a doctor qualifying assessment for athletics. What's weird and not normal is that detailed information is shared with the school. The school should only get a yes or no answer and nothing else unless the patient/parent want to release it themselves. Probably no one really cared until Roe was overturned. Now imagine crazy "pro-lifers" looking at these records...
I've seen DeSantis raise more concerns over books, teachers, CRT, and Disney than what's going on with right wing extremists in his state. Hate in the Sunshine State: Extremism & Antisemitism in Florida, 2020-2022 Florida is home to the most people charged in relation to the January 6 insurrection. a significant increase in violent rhetoric in right-wing online spaces following the FBI search of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property. Threats have largely targeted federal law enforcement and Department of Justice officials, including specific law enforcement officers who were onsite for the search and magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart, who signed off on the search warrant. Florida is home to an extensive, interconnected network of white supremacists and other far-right extremists. In Florida, hate crimes against Jews accounted for 80% of the religiously motivated incidents in 2020, and antisemitic hate crimes have risen 300% since 2012. In 2021, the number of reported incidents increased 50% over 2020 numbers. Racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists (RMVEs) and militia violent extremists (MVEs) present the most lethal DVE threats and are most likely to conduct mass causality attacks. https://www.adl.org/resources/report/hate-sunshine-state-extremism-antisemitism-florida-2020-2022 Southern Poverty Law Center has identified 53 hate groups in Florida, charted on their website. https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map Watch your back when the sun goes down in that Sunshine State if you are one of the targeted races, cultures, or religions.
How did I twist your words? I only shared my own thoughts, I didn't even refer to anything you said. This is rather confusing.
You were talking about pro gun ownership views, and not assault weapons. Many Democrats support gun ownership, but the majority want assault weapons banned. Actually, the majority of Americans are for banning assault weapons. It's the GOP majority and their supporters that try justifying the right to own assault weapons. Some of the politicians even show pictures of their young kids with them, or having their child get one custom made and brag about it. If a Republicans is in charge of this country again then the mass shootings will multiply. The more crazies buying them will just up the odds of more slaughters.
I’m 100% for gun ownership. But believe that there should be clearly defined limitations on what types of guns are available for the public (firing rate and power) and we should be required to have a license for ownership (free of charge) that has to be renewed every 5 or 10 years like a drivers license just to do occasional background checks to make sure they’re still in safe hands. I don’t understand why any responsible gun owner would be against the second part. The first part I’ve heard arguments but it mainly just comes down to “I want to own whatever I want!”. Limitations are already in place, you can’t buy artillery for a tank without a special license, so I think that argument is silly.
We are not in disagreement on this, so I don't know why you think I twisted anything. If anything, my personal position is even much further away from the Republican position on this than even yours.
I guess that's the European in me, on that particular point I am even farther away from the Republican position on it than you are. In my ideal world, I would not be for gun ownership, at all, even "normal" guns. But we certainly agree that nobody needs these AR 15s etc., and that, at the very very least, you need licenses and background checks, etc. I just don't understand how anyone can be at least against an assault weapons ban and against background checks. It's crazy to me.
Some crazies think they need it to protect them from the government…. Although let’s see that AR 15 take down a drone. Others just want them for fun and don’t want the government telling them what they can and can’t have… but again, there are already limitations in place.
I agree, I don't own a gun but I think you should be able to buy one (or many) as it states in the constitution. My issue is they types of guns you need and at what age you can get certain guns, I think 21 is reasonable for an assault rifle even though I have no clue what people use an AK-47 for, I always hear about them in mass shootings but have never seen anyone hunt a deer with them, my buddy has one and they go shoot it but then it goes back in his gun case. Safety training and background checks should be paramount
Your mask is starting to slip. I can glimpse an alt under there, It's somebody who does not post near as much in here anymore and wants to come off as moderate but is always taking one side.
Well, if you support Republicans it must not bother you too much. As for me, I don't like guns period. I don't go out killing animals for sport, and would feel safer if all guns were banned. That will never happen in this country though. I'm more realistic than that.
Why does this guy think you can only be racist to black people? We know he is most likely taking whatever she said out of context, but he is not any better than what he is protesting. Typical.
Even worse, hate crimes have risen 300% since 2012 in his state. In 2021, the number of reported incidents increased 50% over 2020 numbers. He appeals to the far right, which is even scarier.
