For a Democrat to win texas they will have to run as a “texas democrat” who is pro guns. 0 percent chance they will win in this state if they’re not.

Beto sucks and should stop running for office.

Beto will never win a state-wide election in Texas.

I think he’s a weirdo. I still voted for him over Cruz, but I don’t think he’s a good candidate for Texas at all. I think a dem can win, but will need to be former LEO/Military or maybe even a business professional who is moderate…. And comes out from the beginning as pro guns. If I was a candidate I would brag about how I was a better shot than Cruz/Abbot etc.

He ran a great campaign against Cruz and just came up a bit short.

Now Cruz and Abbott (dunno about Patrick, I could only hope) are at peak unpopularity, but unfortunately thanks to Beto's ridiculous Presidential campaign, so is he.

It is really sad but true and the rural folks in Texas will just keep going to the polls reelecting these clowns.

governor abbot and his accused felon henchman/attorney general are filing an appeal to court decisions allowing schools and local government to set mask mandates. abbott's argument is the state emergency act allows him the ability to make Texas citizens need to go to hospitals and/or die.

Sad. Hopefully someone else steps in for these schools to fight on their behalf outside of lawyers. Like the DOJ.

Not much anyone can do. The Texas Supreme Court is stacked with Republicans. The school mask mandates will be struck down eventually. The DOJ can't really do much either as federal law doesn't really apply here.

Unfortunately, all of these Republican governors thought covid was done for and banned mask mandates as a political stunt to gin up the base for upcoming primaries. And then the delta variant showed up and now they're all too cowardly to reverse themselves. The only Republican governor that has shown any regret is the governor of Arkansas but even he can't do anything because their ban on mask mandates was passed by the legislature so he can't reverse it without their consent.

And he's not running again either which makes it easier to take a "principled" stance.

Unfortunately, it might require a big-time Hollywood movie star who looks good in a cowboy hat.

I appreciate the sentiment, but Abbott's executive orders can only be applied to agencies under his purview. It cannot be applied to judicial or legislative (as pictured in this photo) bodies, which are co-equal branches of government. If a test is required to go into the Governor's Mansion, that would better fit the accusation. Or if the Texas legislature passes a law banning mandates, but maintains their own testing requirements.

the GOP is nothing but clowns putting on a constant internet troll performance, so

    1. doing dumbass stunts with no logic or thought just pandering
    and
    2. an inability to admit they were idiots
    is par for the course.

Unfortunately people's lives, health, children and well being have to suffer for it. Even more unfortunate that too many people in this state are so lost in the weeds that these politicians aren't likely to be held accountable.

Do you think Greg Abbott cares that 21% of the country's Covid deaths yesterday were in Texas?

The party of Red is covered in blood. They are directly responsible for leading a crazed cult of no maskers and anti-vaxxers into their graves by making this political. The sad part is that they took far too many others down with them, who did all they could to stay safe but had no protection from exposure thanks to the Republican Blood Party of Texas. They are too busy stopping anyone from requiring masks or vaccinations to protect their employees, customers, students, or children.

All in the name of Freedom. The irony.
They know what a deadly game they are playing. Their heads aren't in the sand. Their heads are all stuck up a rotten orange rump of an impeached con man named Trump. They love that Florida orange juice.

Someone who runs as somewhat moderate who emphases "Texas Democrat" as @CCorn mentioned.

I think a democrat can win in Texas with the right campaign. I think down ballot Dems got caught up in a poor campaign in 2020 as "Defund the police" was pretty disastrous and set back many gains from 2018. Even though the major Texas cities didn't have riots/protests/looting they will still caught up in the narrative.
