Summary of article linked below. Texas and Florida lead in Covid death rates among most populous states. Texas has the lowest vaccination rate of the four most populous states of people 12 years and older. That's pretty ridiculous. Head of GLO is an elected official (TX Land Commissioner). That's currently George P. Bush. Nothing to do with Abbot.
If abbot cared then this wouldn't have happened. He's governor I'm sure he has the power to step in and prevent this sht from happening.
If you don't think this is Republican payback....then you are an idiot. Your largest City AND COUNTY, where Harvey did the most damage?
Repubs have become the party of big government. Yet half their voters think they’re supporting small government by voting red.
I don't see the benefit politically in doing this. The supporters he has are already trenched in. Personally I would think it would benefit me as governor if I could campaign that my state can safely go maskless and truly confidently resume life as normal because enough citizens were vaccinated that herd immunity was achieved. It would show that my state's citizens are science conscious enough to not fear vaccination, understand the economic and health benefits by having more of everyone get vaccinated, and would demonstrate to me that my governor cares about my friends and family with health complications that put them at greater risk of mortality from even things like the flu much less something as serious and deadly as covid.
