Congratulations. It is well-deserved. The epitomy of what a great center should be. Plus, he is Houston taught and spent the majority of his formative years here. Couldn't be happier for any Houston legend.
Dream: Completing the Hall of Fame, Houston Sports #34 Trifecta! Campbell Ryan Olajuwon How sweet it is!
Great article about a great player. One mistake though...Hakeem did not block a potential tying three pointer from John Starks in game 6 of the NBA finals. It was the potential winner! The Rockets were only up by two...86-84, which was the final score. If Starks hits that shot, I cannot imagine the Rockets would have won the following year. Believe me...he would have hit it. Hakeem saved two championships with one block.
Congrats DREAM! Was there any doubt... Just watched the interviews of Dream, Ewing, Riley and Dick Vitale. It was great to watch Dream but Dick Vitale's interview was really moving. He talked about how he couldn't run or jump but just had an amazing passion for the game and even shed a few tears.
Congratulations, Dream. You brought me into basketball as a kid, glued my 10 year old eyes to the telelvision set and helped me get over the ineptitude of the Oilerrs, and were a role modle to me on and off the court. Wish you all the best in everything you do!
congrats hakeem. you are the reason i started to follow the rockets. thanks for all the great memories.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=3333987 They have Hakeem, Ewing, Riley etc but no Vitale in there.
Congrats to Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon!!! Well deserved. The funny thing is when they publicly induct each honoree, Hakeem's highlights will most likely include his dominant plays against Ewing and the Knicks in our first championship. HOW SWEEET IT IS !!!!
Congratulations and thank you Hakeem! You were the reason I became a Rockets fan as well, as I have never lived in Houston
