2nd playoff appearance in 10 years! The reason why: good coach, good supporting cast but mainly Al Jefferson! The guy is a monster and no way they clinch a playoff spot without him. Just checked his stats and wow, so many games with 12 or more field goals and 30+ games. Great rebounder of course. I hope they play Miami, he could do some damage against their non-centers and dare we say: upset? ;)

You forgot the most important reason they made the play offs: they are in the east. It is pathetic that they make the play offs.

That being said big al is an amazing offensive player.

It's not pathetic, remember the Rockets have made the playoffs with a .500 record or barely: twice with a 41-41 record and once with a 42-40 record. One of those was 86-87 and that was a damn good team, almost made it to the WCF so..

In 1981, the 40-42 Rockets beat the 40-42 Kansas City Kings in the Western Conference Finals. In the East, the 62-20 Celtics beat the 62-20 76ers. That imbalance was crazy "pathetic". Rockets took the Celtics to 6 games in the Finals.

Well deserved,I love that team as well.I dont understand the hate for them, it just seems unwarranted. Good luck to them and I can def see them pulling an upset on Indiana.

It's very nice to see a team that has been struggling for so many years, to have a good season. I congratulate them.

they went 21-61 last season and with 5 games left at 39-38, a chance to reach .500 or if not go over.

that's a well deserved playoff berth and deserves no asterisk or qualifying statement of coming out of the East.

They can upset Miami with Jefferson if Kemba Walker was Chris Paul or DRose or WB.

Isn't that main reason Miami has 2 rings?

In part it could be. If all you have to worry about is Indiana and a WC team to be named later its rather nice.

Haha yeah, Miami would easily sweep. A matchup against Indiana would be interesting though. If Pacers pick up where they left off in January, it would be a breeze of a series. But if they continue on their current trend, I could see a 6 game series. However, I expect West will manhandle McRoberts, and Hibbert should be able to effectively defense Al.

The irony in you statement is that we have the fourth or fifth best record against the West this year. I'm pretty proud of my Cats, have a possible chance to DOUBLE our wins from last year and its entirely in our hands to take 6th seed.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with having one of the greatest players of all-time on their team. I guess beating OKC and SA in the finals means nothing.

True. But if Miami has the luxury of playing their main guys 25 minutes or less in the regular season and most of the playoffs, while resting Wade and Allen some nights. Having that extra time to rest adds up in the finals.

No top team in the West rests their starting rotation from time to time? Sure seems that Duncan, Gnobli and Parker get their rest. FWIW, although Wade sits out a lot and Oden hasn't been a constant on the floor, LBJ has gotten no rest from my memory.
