I tip my hat to the Chisox. They're a good team and they simply out clutched us. When it came to pushing that key run across home or getting that key out they did it and we didn't. They were the better team and deserved it even if every game was close and just a few things would've turned the series the other way. Ironically the very first game I saw this season was the Chisox beating the Twins at the Metrodome with Konerko hitting a home run and Crede having a great game who would've thunk it that the last game of the season would be them beating my Stros.
there's nothing to apologize for here....you're a loyal fan. that's freaking awesome. congrats to the White Sox. they had a tremendous season.
as a diehard fan, I've learned to accept the fact that no matter how many excuses you can come up with, no matter how many people you can blame, sometimes, just sometimes, the other team is flat out better than you are I think thats the case here Sox and Stros were very similar teams ...they were just a better version of us in this series
keeley -- by the way..i'm a little jealous that you grew up in an area where being irish was a big deal. it was in my family..but certainly not in my hometown. i am still waiting on this gift, though.
I hate to do this because it will keep the thread alive.. but I have to say it. PLEASE LET THIS THREAD DIE. If you want to congratlate the Sox.. you will find more fans on a Sox board than here. That's like going to the Astro's locker room and congratulating Sox players.
Drop dead yourself. If you don't like the thread, don't read it. Congrats to the White Sox. The better team won. The Astros season-long bugaboo of not being able to drive in runners in scoring position finally caught up with them. The mere fact that we made it to the World Series should give you a good idea of how unbelievably good the Astros pitching staff was this year. Unfortunately, even if your starting pitchers are Cy Young, Walter Johnson & Bob Feller, you aren't going to win very many games if you cannot drive in runs.
I've never, never, never understood how anyone has a second favorite team. Houston lost... again... I'm the Charlie Brown of sports fans. I got a rock.
The White Sox deserved the win, and did the things they needed to win. I don't like them, though. I don't dislike them like I do the Yankees, or Red Sox, but I still don't like them. St. Louis I actually like most of their players. The White Sox I only like their coach, Dye, Rowand, and that is about it. But they weren't a cheap team and except for Pierz'don'tstopbelieving'insky they weren't overly cocky or anything like that.
