Some of us resident Clutchfans member wants tanking, this is how you feel to be tanking and set all kinds of records. MJ, Lebron, Tiger and Kobe have 1 thing in common, they peaked in money making. Kwame Brown, Tyrus Thomas, Larry Hughes and Adam Morrison, how ya'll doing?!?!?!?!?

I remember reading an article about how when the Bobcats hired Rich Cho as GM he asked them if they would do whatever it takes to win, and by that, he meant to tank the season to get higher draft picks. In addition, to let their rookies get experience.

So I guess next year we'll see if his strategy pays off.

I hope it goes to the Kings or Trailblazers(with the nets pick). Anthony Davis next to Aldridge or Cousins would be awesome.

That's great thinking. Another hurdle for the Rockets in the West.

The Bobcats had no choice but to tank.

That team (barely) made the playoffs a few years ago by getting some decent vets but at the cost of loading themselves up with expensive contracts, trading away younger guys/draft picks and not having any of the tools you need to move up or even stay where they were-- cap room, decent young players, extra draft picks, or even expiring/short-term contracts, etc. Otherwise, that team was stuck between 30-35 wins (being stuck at .400 is actually worse than being stuck at .500) and bleeding money badly.

It's not like the Bobcats are even in a position to even try for a Pau Gasol trade or Dwight Howard rental trade. They had nothing with which to try to move up, so it isn't dumb for them to move down.

I actually like the deals they pulled off-- getting picks for Gerald Wallace, scoring the extra pick to get Byiombo, etc. Their current roster is just really bad now and they have to hit a couple home runs (plus some singles and doubles) in the upcoming drafts even to return to .500.

Jordan just needs to sit down with the wolfpack that is the Charlotte media and explain that Larry Johnson isn't walking through that door, nor is Alonzo Mourning, Dell Curry, Johnny Newman or Muggsy Bogues.

I just feel sorry for Kemba Walker. It ain't easy trying to replace Kendall Gill in the hearts and minds of the republic.

Yeah, poke fun at Jordan, the greatest of all time. Pray to God he doesn't see this thread and then come find you at your place of work and outdo and embarrass you at shredding faxes or serving french fries.

They need to stop drafting overrated players from large college programs:

    Lottery Picks by Bobcats
2011: Kemba Walker - 9th overall UConn - undersized combo guard that's a volume shooter
    2010: No pick
    2009: Gerald Henderson - 12th overall Duke
    2008: DJ Augustin - 9th overall Texas
2007: Brandan Wright - 8th overall North Carolina (traded on draft night for Jason Richardson.. derp)
2006: Adam Morrison - 3rd overall Gonzaga - complete bust... but hey at least they tried to go outside of a major program.
2005: Sean May - 13th overall North Carolina
2005: Raymond Felton - 3rd overall North Carolina
    2004: Emeka Okafor - 2nd overall UConn

This is a great year to tank. They will have at worst the 4th pick. Davis is a true franchise player, and both Gilchrist and Robinson look very solid. Drummond has bust potential, but is certainly worth a risk. Even if he ends up only as good as Roy Hibbert that is well worth a #4 pick.

Davis, Gilchrist, or Robinson would all immediately be the best player on the Rockets. Even a 30% chance at Davis is worth the tank job. He's already a better shot blocker, ball handler, and shooter than Dwight Howard. Once he puts on some muscle and learns the NBA game, he is going to be an absolute beast. I may have stars in my eyes, but the last college players to dominate the defensive end the way he did were Mutombo and Dream.

It's funny to see the best player in basketball also be the worst GM ever. He's a business man but really has no GM skills whatsoever. Kwame Brown!

23 straight losses to end the season. So appropriate.

If Charlotte doesn't wind up with the #1 pick, Jordan should trade the pick. Other teams have/may have two lottery-ish picks (Portland? New Orleans?)

Maybe he can trade for an All Star (-ish) player. No one will play for a joke of a franchise unless forced to do so.

An example of a bad exec running a billionaire tightwad's vanity project.

Charlotte, NC is now a Panthers town. Cam Newton is the city's most popular athlete if he can lead them to a Super Bowl.

Disagree. If he trades for a couple of pseudo-allstars, his team just becomes the Rockets. Gilchrist and Robinson may not be franchise players, but at least they have potential. Better to hope they become Wade / Bosh level than to aim for mediocrity.

Unfortunately, it's not true that he needs to avoid looking like a joke. Look at the Clippers. They have been clowns for 30 years. But they got Griffin, which got them Paul, and now people are excited about them.
