Put your energy into something that you're passionate about, really interested in, or challenges you rather than spending that time on social media, which they seem to have lost passion for. Your never too old to set new goals for things you've always wanted to do. What things could you spend time knocking off the bucket list rather than on social media scrolling you're not interested in? What about enjoying helping others? Etc. Life is short, don't waste time on things not really important to you or you don't enjoy imo.
Gen X'er here. I use Facebook for keeping up with my friends from college. Also, Awkward Family Photos and The Onion. And a couple of good Houston sports related pages. I use Instagram to follow my favorite musicians/bands and athletes. I don't even know how to post anything myself. Is YouTube considered SM? I watch a lot of totally random videos. I like Jomboy Media's channel, even though he hates the Astros. He's really funny and he does really know baseball. Other than that, nothing for me. I don't do TikTack and don't even know what snapchat is.
No FB, Twitter or Tic Tok.....about the only thing I have is Linkden. Maybe that's why I have spent the last 20+ years on here so much I missed the FB rollout because I never thought I did anything remotely cool enough to have people care Now get the hell off my lawn
As a Gen-X'er, I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I love a lot of "social media" as long as I stay away from the comments sections. lol. Reddit and Twitter are awesome. I don't care about TikTok, Snapchat, etc., though. I agree about Twitter becoming just an infestation of fake/political/garbage/bots type of posting. Half of the stuff algorithms shove at me, I have no interest in, so I have to fight those. But in terms of news and information, I love Twitter. Reddit is still awesome, too, but, I stay away from comments in most subreddits because the responses are pretty much useless. Instead of communication/discussion, in most cases, it just turns into mindless one-liners and "people" trying to get upvoted.
Out of curiosity, what subreddits do you read? I'm mostly in the technical, computer, science, etc. forums, and they've been really helpful with regards to information and learning. Even for humorous, meme, etc., stuff, I'll hit up some subreddits that are hilarious. But like I said, I tend to stay away from most comments other than in the technical-type forums and stay away from political forums.
World News NBA Technology Houston Politics Wall Street Bets Medicine Apple Android Privacy Nostalgia I often use it to get item recommendations, troubleshoot, and to get breaking news on the War in Ukraine. But supposedly they’re killing third party clients and may kill NSFW content too. And supposedly the mods are arbitrary and not related to the communities they run.
