The US trade embargo from the 80's and the economic sanctions that were imposed by the UN in the 90's were the primary motivating factor.

You're the village idiot trying to explain away numbers like these:

    Invasion of Iraq
Cost: $800 billion & counting, expected to be over 1 trillion
US Military deaths: 4000+ US soldiers
    Civilian deaths: 100,000 +
    Duration: 8 years
    Dictators removed: 1

    Intervention in Libya
    Cost: $1 billion
US Military deaths: 0 US soldiers, 1 Drone KIA (R.I.P.)
Civilian deaths in entire conflict: estimated 5000
    Duration: 2 months
    Dictators removed: 1

I don't really know how anybody can describe two things as more "EPIC FAIL" and more "EPIC WIN" than a comparison of the two episodes (Iraq and Libya).

This isn't of course the only foreign policy area in which Obama succeeds where Bush fails (he's a few terrorist attacks behind, not universally reviled, plus 1 OBL, inter alia), but it's pretty emblematic of the difference in the two approaches and the consequences.

Love how bigtexxx doesn't respond to any of the criticizm here and continues with one liners that have no depth regarding the actual topic.

I fear that if Romney wins, a war with Iran is certain.

Romney seemed to promise to bomb Iran the first day he is in office.

No, she's an Oreo. (Did I just get banned?)

Someone should tell her the Repubs don't care too much about educating minorities.

You base this off what? Democrats being content with the status quo?

That is going too far. Condi Rice can support any party she wants, but the Republican party is not minority friendly.. Most black women are not members at Augusta or have ships named after then.

As usual these days, the right wingers are the first ones to inject race into just about any topic ...using some form of an odd preemptive racial counter strike. Yet again, you deliver.

No, it is based off the recent history and policies of the Republican party.

Any member of the Bush defense/foreign policy staff calling out other people's defense/foreign policy is like Isiah Thomas calling out an NBA team for giving out bad contracts.
