the unforgettable fire and ultraviolet (light my way) are two of my top 5 u2 songs, so i was very happy. but city of blinding lights was the best by far. the screen almost stole the show.
I got free tickets as well. It was a surprisingly good show... and I haven't liked any of their albums since Joshua Tree. I managed to get guitar envy though - I like the Explorer and the Casino.
I don't go to concerts very often but I can honestly say this was an incredible show. The music was outstanding as they played most of my favs and the STAGE was incredible, never seen anything quite like it. Saying that, my only complaint was the stage as it was so incredible that I think it took away from the music at times. Small nitpick thought as I truly felt like Ill remember last night for a long time!!
I've been to several fat stock shows and the county fair, but I haven't ever seen anything like that. What a spectacle. I'm not a bigger is better guy but they really pulled of a rock show for 50,000. My free seats turned out to be in 119. The sound was excellent but the band had their back to us all night. They just looked like ants anyway so I just watched the stage projection all night. The kids down on the floor had the night of their lives.
it was an amazing concert!! Muse kicked ass as I knew they would! U2 took it to a whole new level with all the lighting and production that was involved. The crowd was really into it, even where i was sitting at (at the very top) the crowd were on their feet and singing along. For me, the sound was excellent, and like the previous poster said, I wasn't looking at them too much cause they looked like little ants LOL so i just enjoyed the rest of the stuff that was going on. and yes, the people down in the front on the floor are pretty damn lucky. especially that lady that he pulled up on stage and started dancing with her. *jealous* LOL i wonder if i shoulda bought a souvenir shirt. I was being cheap.
oh and FML, the park and ride was NOT free. In fact the price went up to $10 because it was an event.
What an awesome concert worthy of all the praise U2 has received on their second leg of the tour. Fantastic visuals, lighting, sound effects, etc..which did not take anything away from the band or music last night. I think at times Bono has a tendency to ad lib a bit too much with his lyrics but usually it makes for a nice break from the norm. For whatever reason i think it took away from the verson of "With or Without You" that was brought out towards the end. Nonetheless, a great show.
The girl had a poster that read "Bono, you fill the whole in my heart" Tshirts for $40....ridiculous, im sure u can find them on ebay once the tour is over...
My buddy sent me a text from Reliant last night with a picture. I live in Detroit, so obviously couldn't go last night. I got jealous though, and booked two tickets to LA next weekend to catch the show at the Rose Bowl! Its going to be a blast!
Nice work. You must have been one of the first hundred people in line to get inside the pit. We were up against the rail on the outside of that area, behind the catwalk, which had some great views as well. An interesting aside...Some guys who were standing a couple of rows behind us didn't want to lose their spot on the floor, so instead of ducking out to the restrooms they peed right there and splashed a few people . A city police officer and sherrif's dept. officer came over and escorted them out
