Another thing gone. Growing up the ticket stub was our souvenir. We did not get t shirts because as my father would say that cost money. Then there was the printable e ticket but not the same. Now you don't get a ticket just use your phone and it's gone. I had a tac board with my concert and Astros game tickets stubs on it. Charlie Pride, Huey Lewis, George Strait, Alabama, Journey, Def Leppard, Restless Heart, Johnny Lee, ect. . .
We have a bunch of framed classic albums lining our game room. If it's an artist we've seen, we put the old school ticket stub in the frame. I have The Police (of course), Rush (of course), Sting, Journey, Earth Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang, Lionel Richie, Styx, Def Leppard, Steve Miller ...wife has Prince, Barry Manilow, Kenny Rogers... These were all concerts before they did away with paper tickets.
Not a concert, but I have my tickets to WCF and Finals from 1994 framed around a poster that says Mission Accomplished and has the team breaking out right after player introductions....and separately, the ticket to Game 4 of 1995 Finals with the cover of SI that had Drexler and Dream on it. Occurs to me that today you don't get those either....
You can always print the printable ticket. The nostalgia will be there when you unearth it in 20 years.
Man, looking at old ticket stubs really brings back some incredible memories. There was something so special about holding that physical piece of paper in your hand, seeing the band's artwork, and keeping it as a souvenir on your wall or in a scrapbook after an epic night. It’s definitely a shame that the shift to purely digital QR codes has taken away that tangible part of the concert-going experience. If you are looking to catch some upcoming shows and want a straightforward way to lock down your entry without the massive corporate markups, you should definitely check out startickets. They make finding and buying tickets incredibly simple and hassle-free. Plus, if you ever need to handle secure online transactions or want an extra layer of protection while sorting out your digital passes, utilizing a platform like aceb alongside it is a great way to ensure everything goes smoothly. It definitely helps take the stress out of planning your next live show!
I recently ran into a band that I do want to see live (Goose). I saw that they were tour, so I checked out their ticket prices. Non floor seats were $200+ A filled 5,000 seat arena would mean $1,000,000 gross. They are printing money at this point.
