So if I show up with a "Bush is a liar" t-shirt can I still see the show? Jeffster I get what you're saying and I agree about concerts on national holidays. But IMO starting this whole thing with a march from the pentagon to a concert at the national mall reeks of mission accomplished, photo ops. But this is just precious.
https://www.penfed.org/freedomwalk/register.asp did yall know you have to "register" for the freedom walk?
They took all the footage off my T.V. Said it's too disturbing for you and me It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say If it was up to me I'd show it every day Some say this country's just out looking for a fight After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right Have you forgotten how it felt that day To see your homeland under fire And her people blowed away? Have you forgotten when those towers fell? We had neighbors still inside Going through a living hell And we vowed to get the ones behind Bin Laden Have you forgotten?
Ladder To Heaven ~ Alan Jackson Where were you when they built the Ladder to Heaven? Did it make you feel like crying? Or did you think it was kinda gay? Well I for one believe in the Ladder to Heaven Ooh yeah yeah yeah, 9-11 I said 9-11 9-11 9-11 9, 9-11 Where were you When they ran out of stuff to build the Ladder to Heaven? Where were you When they saved that Ladder to Heaven? Where were you When they decided Heaven was a more intangible idea And couldn't, you couldn't really...get there? You little bastards ruined my latest song!!
My initial reaction was to agree with you, but I thought I'd do a little search on the web. People don't do WWII concerts, or Vietnam War concerts. The slightly scary correlation I could find is that people do concerts after revolutions. Red October in Russia, I found references to commemoration of a coup in Chile, and of course the 4th of July. There are also the Live Aid type things, to raise money, but this doesn't seem to qualify on those grounds. I started perplexed, as you were, set out to prove myself wrong, and just ended up scared! 9/11 = Reichstag Fire?
its by daryl worley, who nobody would have ever heard of if it wasnt for 9/11. what an opportunist. only haliburton profited more from 9/11 than him. ill tell you this, he aint no toby keith.
why didn't you just throw in the gulf of tonkin while you're at it? this is one of the most offensive posts in the history of this board (pace, batman).
America, **** YEAH! Coming again, to save the mother ****ing day yeah, America, **** YEAH! Freedom is the only way yeah, Terrorist your game is through cause now you have to answer to, America, **** YEAH! So lick my butt, and suck on my balls, America, **** YEAH! What you going to do when we come for you now, it’s the dream that we all share; it’s the hope for tomorrow
Some how, Some where, Some way.. I know Toby Keith will make an appearance at this concert. It will ruin an otherwise pleasant day for me.
Nobody runs around with "Gulf of Tonkin Day" celebrations and marches. It became apparent to me that the nature of the celebration, based on a web search, was most similar to that of Fourth of July type revolutionary celebrations. If one were to assume that 9/11 was a revolutionary event, based on my narrow criteria, the Reichstag Fire is the closest match to this hypothetical revolution. The Nazi's did informally celebrate the Reichstag Fire. My point is that the concert and celebration give the outward appearance of the same type of somber glee that Hitler took in the excuse to implement his draconian policies. IMHO, it The fact that you are so upset as to call my post the most offensive in the history of the board is a wonderful illustration of how knee-jerk american political discussion has become. I can name half a dozen more offensive posts I've made, just off the top of my head. Given the volume of posters on the board and assuming relatively normal position for myself a standard bell curve, the number of more offensive posts would reach near four figures.
The Gulf of Tonkin incident is not a good comparison to 9/11. Nothing, in terms of scope and impact IMHO, in US history approaches what occurred on 9/11. The only incident that is within measuring distance IMHO is Pearl Harbor. We don't celebrate December 7th 1941 with concerts and freedom rallies. We somberly remember those who lost their lives on that date. That is exactly how we should observe September 11th 2001....respecting the sacred memories of the innocent people who lost their lives that day. Hopefully it will lead us to respect the sacred memories of all of the innocent people who have died as the result of terrorist acts, regardless of the "whos", "whys" and "wherefores" behind the act.
Basso, yet again you have posted something that is a blatant lie. Everyone knows Saddam is a stinking Mets fan. He has Scott Boras in his pocket.
