theres a link of the bit.

I can't beleive they pulled it on Hulu...seems odd. It would have been great if he and the crew took a sledgehammer to that thing.

I had to rewatch the part about farley and sandler being fired  And Sandler's Nothing But C***S joke was hilarious.

As for Leno, i just don't see how he will be able to return to form. People now know he is a grade A prick and I think Conan has probably won some new people over. He was a little watered down early but now people are seeing Conan letting it all out. Greatness.

They had to. I wouldn't be surprised if the licensing fees there were actually more expensive than the car. Part of the schadenfreude of the whole bit was Conan pointing out that in addition to what they had already paid just to play that track during the live show (which was probably well in excess of $500k), they would have to pay additional licensing fees everytime somebody watched it on Hulu.

Was thinking today, if I was Conan, I go out with a bang tomorrow night and make television history.

In his final sendoff, tell all viewers and all his fans how unfunny and what a jerk Leno is, and tell everybody that his suggestion to them is to not watch Leno, and for everybody from that point forward to watch the best late night talk show host in history, David Letterman.

I can't think of a bigger FU to NBC and Leno.

I imagine he will do something pretty big/outrageous, but I don't think he'll bad-mouth Jay. He's cracked his jokes about Jay and I'm sure Conan and Jay aren't best friends, but I don't think they have a huge grudge against each other. This whole thing is still more geared at NBC than anything ... they made a very premature decision in 2004 and now didn't let it play out.

I wouldn't be surprised if he thanked Letterman again like he did at the end of "Late Night" and left Jay out this time ... but Conan will be back on the air soon enough, so he won't tell viewers who to watch.

he won't be back on a competing network in the same time slot, and that won't stop viewers from watching him when he comes back on the air anyway.

also, a rift/grudge is permanently there between conan and jay. there's no getting around it. i don't care what jay's reputation was (some people buy into the rumors that he's a good guy), you have to be a real fame-hungry sleazebag to do what he's done/is doing. he gave up the tonight show. he shouldn't be willing to take it right back over under these circumstances. there is no chance that conan has an ounce of respect for jay.

either way, don't you agree that if he slammed jay and told everybody to watch dave, it would go down as a top 10 or so moment in American television history?

I thought NBC made him leave The Tonight Show to make way for Conan?

He could very well end up on Fox from 10:30 to 11:30, or 10-11. That's a competing network in the same time slot.

I agree that Jay is kind of a sleaze, but I'll also be fair and say that NBC kind of forced his hand 5 years ago by trying to keep Conan on the network and hoping everything would work out for the best. Come 2009, Jay decides he's not ready to quit TV, and before he can go to another network NBC tries to keep everyone happy. Now they panic when the Tonight Show ratings are down the first two quarters, even though Jay's show had a lot to do with it, and tries to make everyone happy again.

This all falls on NBC- I don't blame Jay. He just didn't want to leave TV and NBC didn't want to lose him. They screwed up in '04 and they're trying to fix it now. I'm sure Conan doesn't like that Jay is accepting the show back, but I don't think you can blame him.

The RIGHT thing for Jay was to move his half hour show to AFTER Conan...or cut it back from 5 nights to 2-3 nights a week @ 10.

Since the stage is on the Universal lot, Fox could lease the thing for Conan's new show if he decides to do a similar show. I wouldn't mind them not touching a thing, it really was a beautiful set.

My guess is that there was something in Conan's buyout where he couldn't go off too much on NBC. You never know though.

considering Leno stole the set for The Tonight Show for himself, I see this as a great plan for Conan's next move...
