i posted that in one of the other threads when this story broke - this must have been from 92 or 93 - that bill hicks was so far ahead of his time.

I've heard nothing but the opposite- Kimmel thinks Leno is a hack.

I don't know if the answers were pre-arranged, but Leno is no dummy. Leno knew he would get burned maybe not to the extent of the plea at the end. To think Leno was blindslided on his own show is IMO ridiculous.

Yeah I thought it was pretty obvious that Leno was setting himself up to get roasted, still that last line by Kimmell was great

i seriously doubt even a few words were not pre-arranged. they do that same skit with everyone. there is no way they leave that to chance. jerry jones was on there and it was obviously rehearsed. even the interviews are stale and rehearsed (not sure if interviewee answers are rehearsed but i do believe questions are known and given ahead of time so...no surprises; there may be some ad hoc but i think it is static for the most part).

That is what Howard Stern said after the Leno Impersonation that Kimmel did. Stern and Kimmel are very good friends. I believe Leno has been a guest on Jimmy's show as well.

What could Leno possibly benefit from that interview though?

And I don't agree that the questions must've been set up. The bits Kimmel had really could be used for almost question. They were actually pretty flexible if you think about it. I'm not saying it couldn't have been rehearsed, but Kimmel had to go out of his way a bit with some of his attacks.

leno has been doing it all week, what he has to gain is the whole i'm a victim in this whole scenario. hes been trying to spin it that NBC is the only person you should blame for whats going on.

In that case, I don't understand why Jay shot him down when Kimmel asked if he would come on JK Live.

This Hollywood crap is worse than NBA trade rumors. You never know what to believe.

Of course Leno knew what was going to happen. He may not have scripted the answers, but he knew he was going to get roasted. Even one of his questions (the last one I think?) was "Did you come on here because you are afraid I might go to ABC to take your job?" I think he also showed Kimmel's bit on him the other night on his own show.

This stuff is great for them, and even though Jay is looking bad in all this, he's trying to milk it for whatever he can.

exactly. you think leno wants to go back into his old role as the pushy guy that helped push conan out of the slot? no way. he's buttering himself up as the "victim" so he can come back like he is blameless in all this and he got his share of negativity in this. he's purposely playing the jabbed at victim to get sympathy for when he returns.

Not sure where you got this nugget of info. You do realize that Kimmel was 16 when Letterman debuted, right?

Which debut? Letterman had a morning show long before his foray into late night.

That first aired in 1980. Was Kimmel 16 in 1980? He may have been.

He would've been 13, and a student. Letterman had a morning show in 1980.

Are you arguing just to argue, or are you stupid enough to think Kimmel was dressing as Letterman as a child at his birthday parties?

13 is still a kid. He could have dressed as Letterman for a prank in high school. He would still be a kid.

I have no idea whether the story was true or not. I don't care. I'm just saying that it isn't impossible.

For him to be a big enough fan to dress like him at a birthday I would guess he would be in his teens.

Stern was confused, it was a mess of cross talk between him and his crew where they were telling him that Jimmy Fallon had played it down the middle by saying nice things about Jay and Conan.

    Kimmel clearly detests Leno.
