Sounds a lot like posts in the GARM, calling for Trevor Ariza's trade.

I doubt the Leno thing is "official" because Conan hasn't technically defied NBC yet so if they did sign or put an agreement in place already for Leno to take over, then wouldn't that be NBC breaching Conan's contract?

I just hope that Conan can get away without being put on the shelf by a non-compete. If I were Fox, I would launch Conan in a temporary studio as soon as possible. They can use Spike Feresten's set.

I also want to know exactly what it will take before Jeff Zucker is finally fired. NBC is in the freaking tank. It has been in the tank and will be in the tank for a long time still. Can't shareholders hold a vote of no confidence?

BTW, did you guys hear that story about how Zucker and Conan were at Harvard together and that the school paper and the Lampoon had a tradition of pranking each other. One night Conan and the Lampoon staff broke into the school paper's offices and stole their paper for the following day. Zucker, editor of the paper, called the police...not the campus cops mind you, but the real police and had Conan arrested.

Leno is a piece of sh** btw. Whoever it was talking about Conan's "self interest" earlier and doubting the sincerity of his letter can see how wrong they were right now.

Leno also came out and said he was upset and willing to walk but at the end of the day it's going to be Conan who is fired and might even be hurt long term if he can't carry this heat into a new show for a few years. Leno on the other hand seems to already be dipping his pen to sign back on to hosting the Tonight Show and I even found an interview where he said he'd take the job back if offered back in November. An utter piece of crap.

That's awesome, only on Conan's show could you see them do a parody of the Song Remains the Same.

EDIT: I wasn't sure at first, so I went in search of corroboration, and it's true, that's freaking George Plimpton Conan kills in that fantasy sequence.

Conan brought this upon himself back in 2004, talked the talk but then couldn't back it up so he blames Leno for his show sucking. He threatened to leave NBC unless they promised him The Tonight Show gig in 5 years, somewhat forced Jay into planning his retirement 5 years ahead of time. Even when Jay had second thoughts about his retirement he still stayed the course to allow Conan to take his spot. By the time 2009 comes, Jay realizes for sure that he still wants to host, so he explores his options, NBC, not wanting to lose him, gives him a prime time spot. Loyal to NBC, Jay accepts so he won't be competing with him.

All of this wouldn't have happened if Conan hadn't insisted on becoming the successor to Jay back in 2004.

    lol.

Anyhow, looks like Conan wants to go out with a bang in his (probable) last week. He invited Stern on his show. What an interesting interview that would be.

Stern's show today, he talks about why all these comedians (among others) can't stand Leno, NBC, tonight show history, etc.

"It's finally dawned on Conan that Jay Leno crapped all over him."

    Part 1
    Part 2
    Part 3

That's great stuff. Sounds like Jay may have some problems landing some guests once he gets the show back. Not only has he pissed off a lot of viewers but he's pissed off a lot of celebs in Hollywood. His new show is going to be a failure.

It's all about target demographics and Conan's over the top silliness alienates Americans who strive for relatability. America lacks culture and intuition so they compensate this by taking themselves very seriously, and Conan doesn't really cater this. Neither does intelligent programming like Arrested Development where the audience isn't spoon fed on when to laugh, when to be sad, and when to piece things together.

America doesn't like to think during it's leisure time - it's a tunnel vision society of ignorance with a complete lack of curiosity. And you need the energy that curiosity brings to appreciate guys like Conan.

This is what I've been preaching since I created a thread on why America looks for reasons to hate Kobe. The internet nerds can be as vocal as they want to, but Leno is going to go strong on NBC until he retires. And that's when the pansy of the year Jimmy Fallon is going to take over late night TV on NBC, and probably achieve better ratings than Conan because of the relatability aspect.

I had no idea about Leno being owed $80 million if NBC canceled it (greater than Conan's reported $60m). I think this is a major reason NBC is holding on to him. I bet if Leno's out clause was something like $20 million they would probably just cancel it.

But then again Zucker seems like the kind of guy who can't admit being wrong and still coming up with the currently proposition just to cover his ass. I'm still amazed at how he's convinced himself this is Conan's fault.

BTW, I'd love to see Conan on SNL again after this fiasco.

I'm far more surprised that Zucker still has a job.
