Same here...although I eventually switched over to Ubuntu, which seemed to give me a performance boost. I keep searching for an excuse to upgrade my laptop, but for web browsing, word processing, minor programming, etc., it performs just fine IMO.
I have to admit I'm kinda warming to Vista. It spends an obscene amount of system resources looking pretty, but since I'm running an i7 processor and a pretty decent graphics card, I really don't care. Though, I no longer have a need for a laptop, so this puppy is a desktop. I have to imagine you'd have to pay a lot more than the $1200 I paid for the laptop equivalent.
Yeah, I never really had any problems with Vista either (running on my desktop of course, not my laptop). I usually use Ubuntu 95% of the time on it too, but not really due to any performance issues or anything. A few things I needed to adjust too, but once I did, I preferred it over XP for the most part.
