Each time I try to log into Windows XP I get the following message: spoolsv.exe The instruction at "0x77ef4aa8" referenced memory at "0x774e97c8". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program. Click on CANCEL to debug the program.

I get the same message when I try to boot into safe mode. I have tried to restore to last known good configuration and ran a chskdsk via the recovery console. When I click OK to terminate the program it behaves as if windows will start but I end up getting the error message about 2 minutes later. Any ideas before I have format the drive and reinstall windows?

Have you tried hitting F8 during boot up when the "loading Window" screen is up? Try either loading in safe mode and/or restoring to last known good configuration.
