Each time I try to log into Windows XP I get the following message: spoolsv.exe The instruction at "0x77ef4aa8" referenced memory at "0x774e97c8". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program. Click on CANCEL to debug the program. I get the same message when I try to boot into safe mode. I have tried to restore to last known good configuration and ran a chskdsk via the recovery console. When I click OK to terminate the program it behaves as if windows will start but I end up getting the error message about 2 minutes later. Any ideas before I have format the drive and reinstall windows?
Google spoolsv.exe There are a lot of topics about problems with this file ranging from viruses to corrupt print jobs.
Have you tried hitting F8 during boot up when the "loading Window" screen is up? Try either loading in safe mode and/or restoring to last known good configuration.
