    Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you guys know a good maybe a free remote access

software. Is not to access computers in my house, but for access to my

    parent's house.

I dont want to keep on driving over there everytime they have a computer

prob. which is usually twice or more a week.

Is there any good/easy software I can put on mine and their computer, so I can access it (I know it will be slower) but sometime I just dont want to leave my room.

    thanks,

As far as I know, Remote access is free with any XP or Vista system, I use it all the time..

    Under - Programs - accessories...

Remote access is standard with Windows (XP and up), but, it does require a lot to setup. You need to open ports and a whole bunch of stuff. The easiest workaround I could give you is to use Hamachi with Remote Desktop. Both are free.

    You have two options...

    1) LogMeIn - easy to use... just install their small thing that runs in the taskbar.... very simple...

    2) Remote access through Windows (what DD said) - It maybe harder to do if you are hooked up to a router... you have to open up some ports as well as possibly edit the registry... if you're not on a router, then it's fairly simple. You just need to enable it through computer > right click > properties and remember your IP.

Oh so the Remote Access on my Window XP Pro can be use to set up to

remote access computer at my parent's house too?

I dont see anywhere where I would put in their IP Address or info.

So I would have to set up remote access on my computer and their's?

Would there be an easier software where I can just install into their's and mine and put in their IP Add or something and access it from my computer anytime. Opening up the ports on my router is alil confusing for me.

Yeah... only thing that sucks is the LogMeIn app is $30... but if you have your iPhone jailbroken.. then you have no problem.. it's free. heh.. I've tried it before on the iPhone.. it's not too bad.

That might be true... but like I said.. it's a hassle to set up all this crap with Windows.. much easier to just go with LogMeIn.. it's not like you're going to be using Remote on your phone a lot and if you are... jailbreak your damn phone.. it's well worth it.

Also, I don't think Mocha lite has gotten as good of ratings as LogMeIn, Jaadu VNC, and Remote Tap (Mac) have by critics and users... I can tell you with Jaadu VNC and LogMeIn.. its runs smooth as hell... I don't know about Mocha VNC.. never used it.
