    I know.:(

This girl who was supposed to fix it last night couldn't complete the task. I haven't heard from here today but the next step might be to remove it manually through DOS.:(

rockhead -- I think most, if not all, are from Manny. For example from behad and bobfinn33 I've gotten virus emails, but they come from Manny (it's his email in the Return-To path). I think it's because he has emailed them before and has them in his address book. Hopefully he will get the virus emails resolved.

That is correct. Pretty much anyone who has been emailed by me from my home computer can "appear" to be sending weird emails to other people that I have sent emails to...for example, it looks like "Jeff" has sent an email to Clutch when it really is the virus that is sending it. I, my mother (who is a lot more computer savvy than me), and this friend of mine who has a degree in Computer Information Systems have all tried since Tuesday night to remove this pain in the ass virus. I am going to try the link that bobrek posted earlier, and hope that works or hope that friend of mine can come back over (I have tried reaching her all day and have not been able to get back in touch with her). Another thing that I will try is calling the Gateway technical support (if I can find the number). I apologize deeply for this; this is the worst thing that has ever happened to me regarding computers.

What has made this so hard (in getting rid of the virus) is that a program must be downloaded before the anti-virus stuff will work. I have tried and tried downloading this or these programs, and for whatever reason, it has not worked since I still have the virus.

All I can say besides that I'm sorry is that if you receive an email from jfyoung@charter.net, just delete it. You can always ask me here if you think it was a legit email what I needed. Also, please look at bobrek's link as it tells you pretty much the "types" of emails that this virus sends, that way if you get an email from someone else that is not jfyoung@charter.net, you can still see that it is a bad email. Finally, pray that I can get it removed.

Well, I have a temporary solution. On the advice of someone here, I exported all my email contacts to a file that I saved on my hard drive. I also cleared my sent items. Hopefully, doing this will stop emails being sent with this damn virus.

I talked to a Gateway guy, but unfortunately, he couldn't walk me through in removing the virus. However, he did say something that made me think why I have been unable to get rid of it. In downloading this program that has to be used before using Norton, he was saying that since my computer is already "sick", that the download may not be saving right since the computer it is being saved on is infected with this virus. He recommended me to run and download this file on a machine that is not infected and save to a floppy. Then run the floppy on my machine. So, I will try that tomorrow morning. If that still does not work, then I have no choice but to delete everything off my computer and start over.:(

I hate viruses so much! One got me during the summer & wiped out our entire computer. We had to reload EVERYTHING including windows. Some of the stuff we had before, we couldn't reload because it was on the computer when we got it.

Just thinking about it makes me mad:mad:

I had the Chernobyl virus. Man, that pissed me off. It wiped everything off my computer. I was still green with the computers. I am a little smarter now, but not much, but man it wiped a **** load of my mp3s. Like 350 songs and stuff. Good songs too. I cried for a couple of days, but I sacked up, and put in the disc to reboot and program and do all that stuff. It was painful. I think i may have infected somebody with it, or somebody infected me with it, because we both had it.

    Why am I in Manny's address book?

Someone replied to me concerning an email that was sent to them. I didn't send it.

We had a neighbor with the klez virus and it took us a while to figure out where those damn things were coming from.

Manny, did you try running Windows in safe mode and using the fix-klez tool? It seemed to cure my computer of the virus.

Good luck mate. It's so pathetic that there are nerds out there that get a kick out of f***ing with people's PCs.

Yes, but I could never get the tool to work. So, I just went ahead and deleted everything off my computer and re-installed Windows ME. So, this fu*king virus is FINALLY gone.

I agree with you completely about the "people" who come up with these viruses. If I ever got my hands on the jabroni that invented this Klez virus, I would cut his balls off and shove them down his throat.

BTW - Behad, I had sent you an email probably back around 5 or 6 months ago regarding, *ahem* Estella Warren (remember? that link didn't turn out the way I was hoping). The problem is that my computer stored any email address that I used in sending out emails. I have learned that I should go through and delete contacts if I don't use them much. Yours was one that I should have deleted a long time ago; sorry for not doing that.

As Clutch said above, the Klez Virus will search through the "infected" machine's address book and take an address like "Behad" and place it in the "From" box and then search for another email address like Clutch's and send to it, making Clutch think that he is getting an email from Behad about something stupid like a Spice Girls concert.

Sorry for taking so long in fixing the problem. I should have deleted everything off my computer several days ago. Hopefully, there will be no more problems with this issue. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
