with the playmaker control you can change the direction of the running play at the line of schrimage with out an audible. On the roll out you can direct (point) a receiver to an open spot... and on the run you can direct a blocker.

I started a franchise with the owner mode on... but I suck at the mini camp stuff so I didn't get many points to improve my players.

I played the 2 min drill a couple times this morning before I came to work. All in all I'd say it is the best Madden to date.

sounds pretty cool, i'm about to go get mine. got tired of waiting last night. I left Greenspoint at 8:15 because it was going to take at least another 30 minutes to an hour. Can't wait to try out the Owner mode.

My copy arrived at 9 am yesterday. Except for a 15 min break to run to the post office, my best friend and I played until 2 am this morning.

    Un-freaking-believable.

If you love franchise mode, you're going to be in HEAVEN with Owner mode. I took over the Bengals, turned them around, but was $1 mil in debt for a three straight seasons (so damn close) so they forced me to sell the team.

You can move your team, change EVERYTHING. It is INCREDIBLE!

Just picked it up today at Wal-Mart. Played one game with the Raiders, I like some of the new features in gameplay, and I haven't even gotten into franchise or online mode yet.

I got mine today and I can say the computer's game play has stepped up and gotten tougher especially on defense. Some passing plays by the computer too can also turn into quick touchdowns if the receiver is even a step faster than your defensive backs. And Marshall Faulk got officially got deeper under my skin. I still won the game but that guy caught all the passes thrown to him and made them all turn into first downs or worse. GRRR

I can't compare the two side-by-side, so I'm not really sure, but does anyone else think the movements look far more fluid and realistic than last year? It also seems like they randomized the movement between plays more, so teams look less like synchronized swimmers.

Haven't got the hang of playmaker control after the snap yet. I've been playing Madden for the last seven years, so I think it'll take me awhile to start using it.

Kick and punt returns seem easier to me. Anyone else think so?

The integrated minicamp is awesome. There's finally a point to doing drills! :)

I really love the idea of each profile having a designated team, so all menus are in your team's colors. Since I spend lots of time in the menus, I sure do appreciate that.

rocketfan83 - My copy doesn't have that ROY bug you speak of. Strange.

Overall, awesome freakin' game. I'll be obsessed with it for a couple months. :D

I took my break at work yesterday to go pick it up at the Gamestop here off of 290 and Hollister. Got home and played one game... Texans 35 - Cowboys 31. Easier to break big plays in the passing game. Carr to Johnson looks great in this game. Carr's rating of an 83 is a blessing... they gave him a great arm. I'm looking to create my own Tony Hollings to use in place of James Allen. Anyone been able to import him in from NCAA 2004? Also, it is easier to run kicks back. I took one 93 yards with Avion Black and had one returned 80 yards by Woody Danzler. Mack runs hard. Bradford is pretty fast and caught a nice 30 yard TD for me. Johnson is a stud receiver in this game. I started an offensive line of Pitts, Weary, McKinney, Weigert, and Randle. I like the three wide set to get Johnson, Gaffney, and Bradford in the game. I also like the power sets where I can run Mack off tackle. The change of direction run play is great when the defense crowds the strong side. Also, they gave some of Texans big weapons good grades so you can actually compete with this team this year. Overall, the Texans are rated 80.

    Johnson - 82
    Gaffney - 77
    Bradford - 80
    Carr - 83
    Mack - 80
    Miller - 80

    Coleman - 86
    Clemons - 81
    Sharper - 91
    Glenn - 94
    Walker - 87

    Can't wait for the weekend!!

Hey, sorry for kind of a newbie question.

I just got the game and I don't know how to do the Playmaker control. I can't seem to find it in my instruction manual (maybe I am glossing over it or I have to buy the strategy guide?) So, I'll present a hypothetical situation and you all tell me what I should do.

If I am using the Texans, and I want to control Andre Johnson during the actual play, how do I do that? (I know how to use the hot route.)

Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks a lot. :)

Don't quote me on this, but I believe there are instructional videos to tell you how to use playmaker control. They might be in "Football 101" on the the front menu.

Yes, I watched the instructional videos last night. They star Al Michaels and Melissa Stark.

The Playmaker control ideas are awesome, but much too much for me to think about during a game. Hopefully it will become second nature in a few weeks.

Geez, I feel like my parents talking about today's technology. I"m sure you young'uns out there want to roll your eyes at me right about now!

Hahah. Ok, thanks a lot. I watched a little of Football 101, and it was describing to me what a shot gun was, so I figured it was useless. Ok, thanks for your help.
