In 2006 when Nash won his second MVP, he didn't really have any more talent around him than Kobe Bryant did that season (Stoudemire missed the entire year, and Tim Thomas was one of their most important players in the playoffs, despite having joined the team at the end of the season), yet his team won 9 more games and took the Lakers out in the first round. So yeah, Nash with more MVPs than Kobe does sound right. Hard to win MVPs when your best personal seasons result in your team winning about 40 games.
Not close, IMO. LeBron should be compared to much better players like Magic and Bird. He is their true heir. Can you imagine the Heat getting better without LeBron like the Lakers got better without Kobe?
Those were Lebron's playoff totals at age 23 after 4 seasons, vs Kobe at age 28 after 9 seasons. Nice troll...really
Those playoff stats for Lebron are basically half of what they really are. His real stats: 3275 points/998 boards/772 assists/195 steals/109 blocks.
I do remember them saying the suns wouldnt even make the playoffs that year.. that had alot to do with it. He's not far off
lebron carried that crappy cavs team to the finals by himself, kobe wishes he could do that without his master shaq
I have come terms with it. Lebron is the best player of this generation and will be in the Jordan/Magic/Wilt/Kareem conversation. Kobe is a tier below with Hakeem, Duncan, Oscar and Bird (bird gets knocked for longevity).
I never understood how people could put Magic in one tier and Bird in another. They had very similar careers and have always been considered intertwined. Bird actually has better stats but Magic had two more titles (which may seem like a big deal but also Magic wasn't the best player on his team for some of them, whereas Bird was always on his).
Mainly because Magic had the Lakers in the NBA Finals in 9/13 years. Bird had only really 8-9 elite seasons to Magic's 13. Bird's body started really breaking down which was sad.
