Yes, someone please kill this thread. Kagy has suddenly morphed into Ann Landers and has decided (as most right-wingers usually do) that he needs to inform people on how to behave, act, live their lives, etc.

Thanks for the advice and concern Brian, but rather than worrying about me, I think it's about time you started worrying about yourself. You obviously have a lot of growing up to do, and you need a little nurturing as well. For your sake, I certainly hope you achieve both.

You obviously think the political discussions on this BBS have purpose and meaning. I find them nothing short of ridiculous and hilarious. That is why I add the posts that I do. Show me some real discussion and I'll add to it, happily. I haven't seen any on this portion of the BBS in at least two years. Until then, I'll keep poking fun. It's sorely needed around here.

Anyone who doesn't think this BBS needs a huge shot of humor simply needs to read Kagy's post. Kagy telling me how to "behave" in this BBS is without a doubt one of the stupidest things I've ever read here. It makes me wonder why it's even worthwhile to visit this site anymore. This wing of the BBS has turned into nothing more than a non-stop arguing and b****ing session. Who the hell needs it? Not me!

The reason I keep coming back must be the fact that I've been coming here since the site's inception. Honestly, after reading some of the crap-ola on this BBS, I can't think of any other reason.

Brian, I'm sorry it's such a slow day at work. Please remember to take your Prozac in the morning. I wouldn't want to read about you going postal in Round Rock. It's too close to Houston. [IMG]

Republicans and democrats are so sensitive! [IMG] Life is to short to take politics seriously, especially when you're defending politicians who are sleazy! Don't get me started on guys like Rush Limbaugh who are slanted in one direction, and any democratic radio personality who are slanted in another. Neither of those people give an unbiased view, no matter how much you like them!

I think I'll become an Independent! Jesse Ventura is the man! Bring on the guns and prostitutions!

I tell people when their shoes are untied or they have a spot on their shirts, too, Tex. When people are making asses of themselves-- even if they think they're being funny-- I like to try to help them fit in a little better.

In stating your opinion, you are either trying to make known how you feel about an issue, or you're trying to inject humor into the thread. In either case, I feel badly for you, because your posts accomplish neither of these two things.

I apologize for not being urbane enough to get your humor-- banal, brainless sarcasm. Your polished wit is obviously too sophisticated to be appreciated by every single one of us that doesn't like it. What a coincidence.

You're right about me growing up. I am sorry for trying to intelligently debate a side issue that you brought up. I hope some day to match the maturity exhibited in your simplistic, shallow remarks.

PS: Anyone who didn't like my last column doesn't have a sense of humor.

Rudy: "Thanks guys, appreciate the support."

    This really happened.

Intelligent debate? Pardon me while I hitch up the legs of my pants, Kagy. I wouldn't want your bullsh*t to stain them. I've already been to the dry cleaners this week.

What you call "intelligent debate" coming from your keyboard is nothing more than brainless tripe-ridden rhetoric to many others on this BBS. I wonder why you didn't post under the "ego" thread. Yours is the biggest one here.

So Brian, please tell the rest of the class how it feels to be the poster child for the "Get-a-Life Foundation.

PS: Your last column was pretty damn boring. And about as funny as a pay toilet in a hospital diarrhea ward.

This is r****ded. Excuse RMTex for making the assumption, based on 99% of his other views, that Limbaugh would take an extremist position on the China situation. No, I don't listen to his show 12 hours a week. Apparantly Kagy did, but still won't tell us specifically what Limbaugh said. However, I have read his books, and RMTex's assumption was not a bad, if incorrect, one.

And he's right, if any of you get this pissed off at a BBS debate, especially Pole, even though he didn't mention him, then you do need to get a life.

I did like Limbaugh's idea of a crack unit of PMS troopers to be unleashed on the unsuspecting enemy troops. Whether or not you agree with his conservative ideals, he does have a pretty good sense of humor.

"Can't we all just get along?" --

"My advice to you doesn't change. Get a life. You need one badly. As badly as this BBS needs humor." -- RocketMan Tex

Twice this thread has been derailed by a stupidity and ego that would dwarf our Communist friends across the Pacific (See: Heypartner v Jim, Kagy v Rocketman). If you people can't play nice, gather up your toys and go home. Some of us are actually interested in the subject at hand.

P.S. I don't mean to single you out Rocketman :)

    Puedlfor --

"China isn't, and never will be an empire because they don't have the same expansionist goals as the Soviet Union, nor the ability to realize them.
Oh, and we had to defend South Korea because we as a government made sure South Korea could not defend itself."

The Soviet Union wasn't expansion minded -- they were just extremely paranoid [IMG]

After WWII, Stalin insisted on asserting influence over the Eastern Bloc in order to protect the Soviet Union from any future attacks. The idea that the Soviet Union was moving towards expansion is mostly Western anti-communist rhetoric.

    As Regards China Itself --

Despite my interest in everything Chinese (You could say I'm a bit of sinophile [IMG] ), I must admit, I can't heads or tails of the current situation in China.

I beleive Cold War is coming, but I can't imagine China has the resources to keep pace with the Americans in an arms race or well, any kinda race. I certainly don't see China making move on Taiwan simply because I don't think the nation wants to risk provoking a war with the U.S. -- they're simply not ready for one.

Their paranoia is somewhat understandable, if you discount the great disparity in ground forces between the USSR and the rest of the Allies. Whatever their reasons, the actions were in an expansionist mold, attempting to move into Greece and Turkey, ditto for Norway. There were abortive attempts to establish influence in the Western Hemisphere. They armed the Chinese Communists and set up a satellite state in N.Korea.

Perhaps their reasons were paranoia, but their actions spoke of expansion, and they had the means to expand. Unlike China, which was my point.

It's kind of interesting how most of the liberals are defending RocketManTex and the Conservatives are defending BrainKagy. Politics are grand, aren't they?

My advice, Tex, is to forget about defending yourself (even though I agree with a lot of your points). It gets you nowhere on this site. It just adds fuel to the fire. I did the same thing and it led to me posting 25 times in one thread. I think most of you know what happened after that...

Wow, somebody dug up an almost 2 year old thread... Yao has brought some bizarre side-effects.
