Man, a whole lot of people have forgotten to take their pamprin lately.

All this fuss over a DNP roster spot guy.

Harris is going to be another Mike Wilks, ie, a guy who catches on each year somewhere for the league minimum, and every offseason you read about him signing with a new team.

'Good enough to make a roster, if there is a spot open, but never quite good enough to stick somewhere for a long haul' is probably how his career will go.

It's not a big deal, guys. He'll do ok for himself, and heck, with the nomadic life these bottom-of-the-roster guys lead, he could just as easily wind up back here in 5 years. Maybe he'll luck into a situation where he can flourish, and become a Mike James kind of guy who manages to make good for himself late in his career.

However, in our team's current situation, he was never going to stick here - it is a business after all. It's best for him anyway, it's not as if he was going to get any playing time here, and therefore his development would have actually been slowed, instead of helped along.

So: Sura's gone, JL3 is going to be gone, and now Harris is gone. That leaves 2 more cuts. Figure two of these three guys will get the axe - Reed, Snyder, and Novak. Of that bunch, Novak is probably the easiest to trade, and/or also, unfortunately, the cheapest to cut.

So it's really down to Reed and Snyder. Seeing as how neither of them are going to contribute anyway, it will probably come down to which one would hit the worst financially.

It's gonna be a hit either way, as I understand it, but I don't know all their contractual details. Maybe some guru can break down the differences between Reed's and Snyder's contracts? We can probably easily tell who's gone from that.

This tells me that unless we are able to make a 1 for none or 2 for one or 3 for 2 or 3 for 1 deal, gone are Sura, Lucas, and Novak for sure. Then it comes down to releasing Snyder or Laundry.

Morey is playing "chicken" with the other teams and will retain try to retain contracts that they are expecting him to cut. There's a deal out there to be made but that deal is going to have to wait until after Oct 29 when teams realize they can't jam him up by making him cut a contract.

You've got guys like Malik Rose, Jerome James, Darius Miles, Raef Lafrentz, Jason Collins, just to name a few, that teams would "dump" in a heartbeat if they could get ahold of some expiring contracts and/or Sura's buyout deal.

Technically it does if Dan was compared prior to receiving his cuppa Joe with the Suns.

Hayes doesn't need to be a threat if TMac and Yao can take their double teams and hit the open, cutting Hayes for a lay up. CH must hit the foul shots, tho, or his value becomes well, devalued.

Chuck Hayes looked really good in preseason, too. I'm just saying.

Yeah, but he's also got 2 years of NBA experience under his belt, while Harris has none.

I would have liked to kept harris and trimmed other players. Oh well, he will grab on somewhere and I think he could be a fairly productive bench player for some team.

Thanks for the info. Harris will be in a team in NBA in no time. The guy was very much talented and he deserves a home in NBA.

Mike said that they are continually trying to find a starter type who can start or come off the bench. Like Stackhouse

I talked to Mike about his feelings around Chuck and he said he's a good person but he felt like he out performed him. I asked him if he guarded Chuck in practice and he said in the beginning but he was checking Tmac in order to improve his defensive skills. He said that Chuck couldn't check him on offense, too slow.

Yao Fan 2007, I coached Mike Harris during the summer pro league here in Houston. Also feel free not to question another person's integrity until you have evidence of the contrary.

We said the same thing about Chuck Hayes and the guy is almost starting. If Scola stops fouling, Harris could easily still Chucks 15 to 20 min

The only problem with this assumption is that Mike cannot produce at the same rate as Chuck (who was a bottom feeder at some point in his career). I think Mike is definite upgrade over Chuck due to his offensive skills. They are basically the same size and Mike rebounds over the rim and is more athletic.

Uch, please don't quote that loser. Just seeing his moniker on the screen makes me dry heave.

because casual fans only care about offense....defense is boring and unsexy..

They fail to realize that Chuck is actually our 2nd best post defender after Yao, and maybe our only PF who can hold his own against some of the better PFs in the league.

Any indication from Mike where he prefers to go among his current options?
