I think Harris is a better fit than Hayes, because having a power player at the SF position is a big advantage, ala Shawn Marion....and Bozni is only here for this year, Harris would be a nice player to keep. I agree with Adelman, keeping Landry to CYA is no excuse, it should be a true meritocracy, and Harris is one of the best 15 players, but at least we are talking about end of bench players ..... DD
My sentiments exactly. That would really suck and you know they are probably tops on his list besides us. They would love to have an aggressive athlete on their hands that is versatile. Here's to hoping he goes to LA or Chicago.
Agree. I'd say Harris is better than Yayes. Harris has shown his athletic and shootin' skills. He's that type of Shan Marion I think. Hayes is also good but what I hate about him is that he cannot even make his own position, create the shoot for himself. I tought he would have improved in that but no.
And the winner of the DaDakota annual compare non-rotational player to Phoenix Suns star is....Mike Harris! Past winners include Vassilis Spanoulis (Steve Nash) and Eddie Griffin (Amare Stoudemire).
I would not be surprised if he goes back to the Rox again..Remember the Hayes situation..he was cut goin to the season and was later signed by the Rox..I'm looking forward with the last trade Morey still has before finalizing our line up..
Yeah, for real. We're making too much fuss about a guy who can't even make the regular rotation even if he stays. Doesn't make much sense to me. Sure Mike Harris is talented. But when push comes to shove, you can always find some undrafted/free agent talent to fill the end of our bench. Or are you guys crazy about him only because he is a Houston local?
Right now they would still have Landry, Butler or Reed to choose from. I would see Harris as more a power SF than a power forward. As for why people are a bit upset, it is always good to see a player come out of nowhere that is hungry, it energizes the veterans, ala Mario Elie....hard working smart players are always fun to root for...and Mike Harris is all that and his skills. DD
Chuck Hayes happens to be all that too. And he's proven to be an adequate starter for us. But some people would choose an unproven Mike Harris over him. Hmm. Again, doesn't make much sense.
I like Chuck Hayes a lot, but he is severly limited offensively, teams do not have to guard Chuck because he is offensively challenged. I would prefer a Chuck like player (read Harris) that other teams have to respect offensively on the court. DD
Harris is a versatile, energetic, skilled player. I'm very disappointed to see he got cut. I hope we get him back.
Mike Harris is a journeyman type player that would have ridden the inactive list most of the season had he stuck. I hope they do move the players that Harris mentioned. It makes sense.
If only judging from SL and preseason games, JL3 looked like next coming of AI. Harris hasn't played one real NBA game yet, and he's an upgrade over Hayes??? I don't buy it.
Am I missing something? Would Adelman sit and tell TRACY effing McGRADY who he was trying to keep, cut, trade for? Maybe in a Stevie-esque acquisition. Maybe if he tried to bring in C-Webb. But, IMHO (assuming the veracity and accuracy of the Thread starter) Mike Harris is either guessing or 'projecting'. Harris may be a good guy, maybe a decent player but he is, after all, a non-rotational NBAer (at this time, in the very least).
