[Comics]New Spiderman spinoff, "The Scarlet Spider: Kaine," to take place in Houston

I've read it twice and I think it has potential. Kaine as Scarlet Spider had me confused since I've been out of the Spidey World for sometime and Ben is Scarlet in my head, but it definitely not bad. They even have a Scarlet Spider history which I thought was pretty cool. I'm going to give it a couple more issues before I decide whether to stick with it. Although I do have to admit while I was reading it and saw South 59, my brain automatically went, "Wow I used to drive that road everyday." Ughh. What the hell is wrong with me?

 

Went to the Q&A session and got a free issue. The artwork looks really good. The artist did a good job on the downtown buildings. Seems like they have an interesting roadmap of where Kaine is heading. There's going to be more about the human trafficking, drug cartels, and energy companies as villains. UH is supposed to be shown in issue 5 and an Avenger is gonna pop up. They're touring the city tomorrow to get a better feel for the city. They've been using Google Maps as a model to draw downtown. The writer Chris Yost seems like a pretty swell guy.

 

Will they be going to other comic book stores to meet with fans? I would love to get my canvas covered signed.

If no supervillain claims the Astrodome as a secret lair, I'm going to be sorely disappointed. Is this available on comiXology yet?

 

I don't think they're doing anymore appearances today. The artist, Ryan Stegman, was pretty cool too he was doing quick sketches for people. The energy company villain is Roxxon Energy Company which has tie-ins with Tony Stark. Not sure if that's the Avenger that they're talking about. They also said Kraven and the Vulture will make an appearance later on. They're trying to keep it as familiar to Houston as possible but they're going to blow up a lot of places, which I think is pretty cool. Also good to know that the book was sold out at the distribution level. Hopefully it keeps it up. Anything that shows Houston in a positive way is good to me. I'll keep supporting it.

 

That would be a kick-ass supervillain.

 

Is this going to be a big upgrade from Spiderman3? ...If not..not sure if I will pay to watch this.

The latest Batman trilogy being the greatest thing as a unfair comparison for revival.

 

They should do a story about downtown underground tunnels. Its like a underground city with no bums

I got one today because i like the front cover. (standard) Would be nice to get a large poster of it.

The artist is asking for help with referencing Houston locations and stuff. Ryan Stegman Tumblr Sounds like the comic did well. I hope it keeps going and enlightens other people about our humid but most of the times pretty awesome hometown.

 

New costume is a bit flat. Nothing still beats Spider-Ben:



I'm kinda mixed following Kaine. I wasn't a reader of Spider-Man until the Clone Saga and I actually liked it. I really liked Ben Reilly. I wish they just retconned his death in One More Day.
