See, I don't get to hear Clyde that much on League Pass. So to me he has improved...but I will agree, Bill and Calvin had some sorta weird chemistry that just worked great for the local watchers. Ahhhhh...the good ole days where Bill and Calvin would make such a big deal about someone bringing them some cookies.

And as for the first to b...b... posts...I'd just prefer someone with the moniker 'boobs' to post at some point!

I'm a fan of Clyde "the player", but as a color commentator,
I can only take so many "Doesn't get any better than that" statements.
    I miss Calvin... :(

I'd take Bullard's informative talk over Clyde's talk any day of the week. At least he does something useful with that pen, like drawing plays the Rockets use during the game, Clyde just uses the pen for circling random players. Oh yeah, and bring back Calvin....

    PLEASE!!!!

    We have a winner.

By the way, I haven't read the entire thread, but has anyone mentioned how lame and annoying it is when Clyde laughs to himself after saying something that isn't even intended to be funny? For example...

"He's really taking it to the basket aggressively tonight. We haven't seen that kind of play from him since about 2 years ago...*chuckle*...*chuckle*"

Everytime Clyde expresses Mutombo's reaction during a foul, i get shell shock! awful ;)

Yeah i love the Deke impersonation and the cartoon network comment was funny. But can you imagine how excited Calvin would be with T-Mac's resurrection and the emergence of Yao having a MVP season. Calvin and Worrel's enthusiasm would make the broadcast that much more exciting

Yeah, I think Clyde is a comedian, unintentionally. Lately I am laughing more at how bad he is than how funny he is. Like, how he can't get through a single game without using the word "consummate," and how he often says completely wrong things like "He (spanoulis) played in Greece for many many years!" ...when does 3 qualify as "many many"?

I mean, I love Clyde of course, but his commentary is flat out ridiculous. It's like watching it makes me embarrased for him, and I feel bad.

Hey atleast he doesn't say, nothing but the net. Clyde needs to learn about give an take. If Worrell is talking and lets you in/give in than Clyde needs to take it not give it back to Worrell. If worrell talks about good defense of Rockets than Clyde should inform us about the defense they are playing not agree they are playing good defense. ;)

Clyde is still terrible, but I find Bullard to be much more annoying. I hate how Bullard will repeat the same joke over and over or ask dumb questions.

Bullard is informative. I will take Bullard over clyde any given day. I don't want to hear the samething twice.

I think Clyde's borderline unbearable too. The Mutombo thing was funny the first few times, but he keeps doing it so much so that it seems as if he has something against Dikembe now.

Bullard stutters alot, but at least he knows his stuff. And he's informative. I like how he would analyse the plays during timeouts. Very nice touch there.

Not to say that Clyde doesn't know his basketball. He does. You can tell he has a wealth of experience and opinions about the league and different players. He just needs to tap into that and talk about it more often. The rare times that he does are quite insightful. I'd take that over his rumbling monotonous voice laughing over something that's not even remotely funny anytime.

It's fun when you hear it for the first time. But ... every game?

    I want Calvin.

First, although this kind of statement is subjective, Clyde has improved. It is impossible to do something for a year and not improve. I also warmed up to Van Chancellor after he had been doing it a couple months, but many didn't see it that way. He had great insight.

As far as Bullard goes, he needs a little bit more inflection in his voice. Worrel is so good at it. I believe many listeners are reacting negatively to that.

Both Clyde and Bullard are OK in my book. They are fans of the game, fans of the Rockets. From time to time they bring fluffy content but who doesn't. I also don't mind the digressions as we get to know their opinions better.

Now that Coach Chancellor isn't doing anything, maybe they could bring him back. Yeah, there is that accent, but outside of Calvin (who isn't coming back), there hasn't been a more entertaining and knowledgeable Rockets color guy.

    The accent, I know.

But still, once you got past that, Van was funny and really really insightful.

I loved Clyde as a player, he is one of my all-time favorites. That being said, he is absolutely terrible as a TV commentator.
